Definitely tired of the song live. I just don't like the chorus. I think the verses are great, but the chorus seems out of place and forced. It just doesn't flow to me.

The End...I heard this for the first time at Ed's Nashville show and knew nothing about the song (if it was his or a cover). I was floored by it at the show and thought it was the best thing he'd ever done.
  • The lines - "Did I say that I need you, Did I say that I want you" ruin the song for me. I just hate that part. The song would be great if those lines werent in it.

But, those words are important to the meaning! :?

I just think its kind of cheesy, perhaps different wording would have made it better imo.

Maybe I can't be objective. I actually just love that part and the phrase that follows it.

  • I have heard the song live several times now, and I have enjoyed it every time. I think it's such a beautiful song. If they played it at every concert I attend in the future, I would be perfectly happy! :D

It's a man sharing his feelings and putting it out there in a song. Even if you don't like it, I think it's important to respect what an artist is sharing. No need to announce it.

How beautiful and simple.... Stay with me, Lets just breathe

Can't get tired of it.. because I never liked it to begin with   I would take Last Kiss over Just Breathe and I don't even like Last Kiss :silent:

    I can't allow that. Ever.

Of their slower repertoire, I love Black, Sometimes, Thin Air and Off He Goes. Oh, and Thumbing My Way (thanks Dr. Delight  )
    Given To Live -

Latest story - Declan at Slipknot is up on the website now at www.giventolive.com along with Kayleigh at Foo Fighters, Tony at Stereophonics and more.

Inspired by Pearl Jam, making live music dreams come true.
  • it's the PJ ballad I most relate to. I can't stand Betterman, Thumbing My Way, and a few others. I really dig Just Breathe and The End.

Maybe you folks have just seen to many damn shows for your own good. ;)

there is the thing that the band can't play for just the fans that travel with them and see multiple shows. if they did that, they'd disappoint the other 14,000 people that are only seeing them once on that tour. maybe if they did a fan club only club tour for PJ40, then I could see your point.

I am really surprised to see so many people hate this song! I think it's a great song. It's a love song, and that doesn't happen everyday with Pearl Jam, that is for sure. How can a love song "become" too syrupy, anyway? It started out that way, and that's the whole point. I love that Eddie did a simple love song; it's romantic and sweet, making it really unique in the PJ repertoire.

And yes, the person above has a good point. Maybe some people really have seen too many shows for their own good, I mean really, PJ only has so many songs, and even less that they might be in the mood for over a period of a couple months. I do get that people are just that in love with the band and the scene, but I'm not so sure any band is meant to be seen over and over and over during the same tour if people are expecting something so wildly different each time, even if it is Pearl Jam. PJ DOES still mix it up in a great way; once you atop thinking so, I think it's good to take a break from the shows or bootlegs that tour rather than blame the setlists. Even with these guys, it IS still a tour with some amount of focus. It bugs me to see great songs and setlists be criticized. Only because of what have become totally unrealistic expectations during concert tours.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
  • Will never tire of it, a beautiful song. Each to their own though.

  • to compare it to last kiss is unfair..

also Suziemay, sure it's just the first one to pop into my mind, but you don't like present tense? Am very protective of that song and you didn't mention it in your short list of slower songs you like.

Of course they can't play just for us obssessives but no song should be overplayed to the point where people who liked it are totally over it , not with the size of the catalogue there is to choose from
I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!
