Good for him, I thought he did it well.

It was a nice gesture but he should have left this one alone. There are covers that Ed has done that had me wondering what he was thinking. The latest to come to mind is Mother by PF. That was horrible...

    I thought it was great.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

On one hand I can appreciate the sentiment since several close to Cornell have been affected by drug abuse, but on the other I've never heard him mention any connection with Whitney Houston whatsoever so it seems like he's doing it b/c it's the cool thing to do.

Not the worst performance I've seen. Probably better than his Billy Jean cover.

    Brutal..

"Everyone in this room is now dumber for listening to it"
"Going where the water tastes like wine!"

Maybe he just wanted to tip his cap to a fellow musician. He sounds great covering this song and I really believe he was being genuine in doing so. Rock on Chris!

Yep the one with Ella and Louie Armstrong is one of my favourite songs of all time.
  • I enjoyed it, thought it was a sweet gesture. Obviously the arrangement could do with a bit of tweaking, but he sounded good. As soppy love songs go, I think this is actually one of the better ones, the idea of letting someone go because you know they're better off without you is actually quite profound.

    Me like. Very cool gesture.
  • I think a candlelight vigil would have been better. Just kidding Whitney fans.:lol:

If Bette Midler killed herself would you think it would be embarrassing if Ed sang Wind Beneath My Wings?

    So not the same.

For me it is just the same. Very lame no matter how you slice it. Chris should have contacted his cool advisor beforehand.

Nevermind him contacting his cool advisor, I'd suggest you contact someone who knows anything about music if you can't tell the difference between Whitney Houston and Bette Midler

Perhaps CC was a huge fan, or had some connection to her....no one here really knows. If someone is embarrased by this, perhaps they shouldn't base their identity on the actions of a rock star! :D

Nothing wrong with recognizing someone from another genre.

I agree with you for sure.

I don't see how embarrassing it is either. He's a musician. Paying respects to another musician who lost their battle with drug abuse.

Exactly. It's just a tribute. God forbid the guy shows some respect unlike some people on this board.
