    I got into Ozzy's solo stuff first, as a kid....Diary of a Madman was one of the first albums I ever owned....Blizzard wasn't far behind. I still consider Diary as good as anything Sabbath did...but ya, Sabbath has to be one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Even if you can't call them THAT heavy anymore, nearly every metal riff every written can be traced back to Sabbath. I remember a famous guitarist (can't remember who) saying that it was a joke to call anyone derivative, because every hard rock riff possible had long since been written by Jimmy Page or Tony Iommi...tough to argue with that.

    The fact that it took them 11 years of eligibility to get into the R&RHOF is the single greatest reason to think that organization is a total fucking sham.

    I was lucky enough to see the Last Supper tour.
    ....just put Hole in the Sky on a mix disc recently...after reading this thread, I'll be cranking it on my way home.
