  • If there was one thing I was disappointed with about with the 4 shows I saw on the recent tour, it's definitely the sound/mix.

I had trouble hearing the bass except on songs that were acoustic or had a really prominent bass part, like Jeremy intro.

Have they had the same sound person for years, like most bands?

some people have said to me
pearl jam would still be pearl jam without jeff or matt
i've read that on here many times
but i say NO WAY....jeff's bass lines are one of my most favorite parts of many songs
i always turn the bass all the way up in the car just so i can listen to jeff weave his magic
IMO the reason people say this is because Pearl Jam's music is driven a lot more by guitar and vocals.  I was watching an interview recently with the RHCP and John and Anthony said I see our music is a bunch of bass guitar solos and we are just working within it.  And if you listen to RHCP flea drives the songs almost all of them.  Pearl jam just uses the bass guitar differently.   I tend to disagree if they swapped out Jeff Pearl jam's sound would change but I don't think many people would notice all that much.
