Its a vast topic and undefinable term, but, in general, seems like people generally know what indie is and sounds like.

with that in mind whats everyones favorite indie bands and albums.

i have so many but one im revisiting today is Band of Horses Everything All of the Time. I remember this album coming out in 2006, and it signaling a change in my own listening habits.

    cool topic....

i felt the same way the first time i heard Elliott Smith playing over the speakers in a record store back in 2004 or so. it really grabbed me & also signaled a change in my listening (& playing) habits.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

There's some great 90's indie bands, but step back to the '80s, Jesus & Mary Chain. Awesome.

After a few listens, I've never been able to get into it for some reason. I guess it's just not my thing.

    The Bright Light Social Hour

From Austin, TX, this band blends 70's southern rock with funk. Awesome live.

Check out their youtube channel. Here is a taste.

"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

    dEUS
    Low
    Jesus and Mary Chain

Absolutely. I'd say they are still indie in spirit.

Agreed, they will always have an indie soul but I think they crossed over into performance art a lot. It's not so low budget.
I dunno, I just hate that album. It seemed like such a copy of Deserter Songs and I think DS is far superior. Everything else they've ever done is solid gold.

Mercury Rev is one of those bands that I've never really checked out. Pulling up Deserter's Songs on Spotify now.
