I know its been discussed a million times, but I just dont understand why Ed's boots are not released....Not much else to say, I just really wish we had official recordings...Has this ever been brought up on the radio show???

It was brought up on the radio show and the response was one of acknowledgment. Both eV and the 10C are aware that fans would love to get shows to listen to, but the standard line is something to the effect of "It won't be done until it can be done right."

There is never any context given for what "right" is.

Translation: They know. They actively think about it. There are no solid plans to do anything currently.

Strange...I know nothing about the process, but im surprised they can get the sound right considering all the technology that is out there...

I am assuming that is what they mean, when they say done right.....but who knows..

Could be about the "sound" I guess. Who knows but the horse itself?

I suspect that it has more to do with figuring out a way to make the experience for the purchaser/listener a special experience (like attending a live show) rather than a throwaway/casual experience (like low quality mp3s in low quality earbuds while you're at the gym with espn on).

Or something.

ever been to an ed show you know what i mean
its a shame we just can't listen to the man sing

could it be its not profitable?

They do it for arena shows of 20k people, and say 5k people buy the bootlegs.

for ed, the theater only hold around 2500 people, and say only 1k people buy the boots.

so for the cost of mixing to get all the people yelling out, and packaging and mailing, it might not be profitable?

just another angle. i think a compilation such as Cornells songbook might be the way to go.

but maybe he wouldn't get any royalties for broadcasting...but that's ok right? its just on those

plus, really, the only difference from one Ed show to another is his stories, it's not like he's out there mixing it up or anything, like you're going to get a drastically different version of any song, so why would you want a dozen boots of basically the same show??

My thoughts too. Plus wasn't there a lawsuit a while back over hard sun? That may have put them off.

Of course they got the DVD out that sounds great, so I imagine the boots would sound just as good.

Is there technology to get dumbasses to STFU once they're inside the venue and not continuously holler shit at Ed all the way throughout the show? even while he's actually playing?

invent that piece of tech and you'll have all the boots you can ask for.
