So, not very much, but quite disparate..... Let's hear 'em..... Not VIP stuff... Something you had to "work" for.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

  • -Caught a pick thrown off stage by G Love, who was performing with Jack Johnson back in 2004 at Austin City Limits

-Had a shot at a copy of the setlist from PJ's Boston 2010 show - I walked by a section where they were doing sign language for the hearing impaired and there was a stack of setlist copies (identical to the ones you see on stage so I'm assuming they were just photo copies of that). It was during Band of Horses' set, and I didn't want to have the surprise of each song ruined so I didn't grab one. I caught a peek at the first 3 songs (Release, Animal, The Fixer) then forced myself to walk away, which was not easy. Glad I did it though - didn't want to know that awesome setlist before hand.

That's it for me. Nothing too exciting.

The question is...did you use it???

Better than mine which consists of a pick each from Slayer's Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King during Reign in Pain tour '87 and a ripped piece of sweat soaked towel from Tortelvis of Dread Zeppelin, I didn't see it coming, couldn't get out of the way.
I've never really go out of my way to collect stuff, I'm far too lazy.

  • I think the only cool thing I've got over the years is a Soufly setlist which I got autographed by the band after the show.

Black Crowes....Luther's setlist, Rich Robinson personalized pick from their 20th anniversary pre-hiatus tour, in 2001 they tossed out a bucket of picks that had "Show's over. Go Home" on them...had a few of those

MMJ....Jim James 1 pick he used for acoustic(plain) 1 pick he used for electric(personalized)

The Mars Volta....Thomas Pridgen drum stick

Coolest thing I've ever seen that person I know snagged was a Danny Carey drumstick. On the last drumshot of the show he broke it..it was cracked and crooked but still together. When DC went to throw it, it got stuck in his hair and there were hairs in the splintering of the drum stick. The dude that grabbed it kept them in there when he got it mounted and framed.

    Set lists from:
    JJ Grey & Mofro
    Lisa Hannigan
    Dawes
    The Revivalists

I actually had a drumstick snatched away from me at the Foo Fighters show in 05. I'm 6'2" but my buddy is even taller and was standing behind me. It was coming right to me but he reached over and grabbed it right before it hit my hand. He still denies he stole it from me to this day :P

Being 5'3", unless I am in the front, I'm probably not catching anything thrown out into the crowd  But, I have gotten:
A guitar pick from Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses at their show at Grand Central in NYC
A guitar pick from Mike McCready at the NYC Tres Mts show. Unreal moment.

The guy behind me caught a Carter Beauford (DMB) drum stick at their last show at their Caravan Festival in NJ this past summer. Wish I could have caught that!

Used every vibe I could throw out there to make it happen....

Alex Lifeson walked right out on the subwoofer stack, leaned over, and put a pick right in my wife's hand ... in the middle of 2112!

  • I detailed this in the 'Cage the Elephant' thread... but at the Foo Fighters show in Vancouver, my son (14) got the following:

    Setlist from Cage
    Setlist from Foos
    Grohl pick

    * During the encore... Grohl thanked Cage and they were standing right behind us. They then signed the Cage setlist for my kid!

    * I'm taking the package to the framers this week to create a momento for the spectacular night that seemed all about us!!

Not much, I've never really gone after setlists or had picks thrown my way.

Brad stickers that Regan handed out to people lined up before their Dallas '02 show

Bag full of confetti (about two pockets full) that rained down on the crowd at the end of the Rolling Stones concert at Texas Motor Speedway '97

Seems like I'm forgetting something, but that's what comes to mind.

Tim Rogers from You Am I gave my wife a rose at a gig at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney. He was playing with Tex Perkins in support of their Tn'T album. It was a fake rose, they had loads decorating the stage, but she still has it.

I actually 'played' Tim Rogers' guitar at a gig once. He jumped off the stage during the ending of Cathy's Clown, held his guitar out, gave me his pick and said "Hit that fucking thing!" It was only a few chords but it's still pretty cool.

Chris Shiflett from Foo Fighters bought me a beer once! His band Jackson were playing a gig at TJ's in Newport and he was at the bar while the support band were on. I started chatting to him and offered to buy him a drink but he wouldn't let me, he actually paid for my drink.

Apart from that I've got a couple of picks (Jesse Malin, Strokes), a You Am I setlist and one of Tommy Lee's drumsticks.
