Are the RHCP as bad live as every one says?

...contemplating Chi town tix tomorrow morning but I hear some tough things about their live show...lemme know. Feel like it is one of those bands to be able to check off the list.

curious what other people think, too!

HOWEVER, a friend of mine saw them on the IWY tour and said it was great. If you can afford it though, by all means go. Put it this way, will you regret going? Probably not, you'll hear AT LEAST a few songs you love already, plus a few you'll learn to love. Will you regret not going? Almost definitely! (unless your alternate plans for the evening are amazing!! )
i think the show was a 3 out of 5, they played for almost 2 hours, and mixed very well the old classics with the new songs from the new record, which were all pretty good "standard RHCP-songs".
They had some energy in them, even though you could really feel that they´ve done this a thousand times and that they were pretty much doing it on routine, that including the sometimes pretty funny and not at all understandable speaches by Flea
So to rap it up, good and skillful playing of both new and old songs, pretty good energy and cool scene.
However, lack of spontanity (wrongspelled I guess) and somewhat going on just routine and not much talk between the songs by Anthony, and new guitarist, gives the show a 3 out of 5, but still, they are legends in their style, and are totally worth seeing once in your life

Not seeing them this time around.
Considering seeing them this time around but not having any luck getting through for tix right now...they weren't great enough for me to stress about this, if I get a tix great, if not, oh well
can't friggin get through, and I've had tix in my cart 4 times now... it keeps timing out at checkout.

Foo Fighters are about the most consistent band out there, I've never seen a shit show from them. RHCP have been very hit and miss in my experience - the last time I saw them was at a festival in 2007 and I left after about 15 minutes, really disappointing.
saw them in november, klinghoffer is doing an outstanding job
2007 - London
2009 - London, Manchester, London
2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London
2011 - Alpine Valley x2
2012 - Isle of Wight, Manchester x2
Not the best show on the planet, but worth seeing.
Perfectl review and my thoughts exactly! And like another post said, they're pretty "hit-or-miss" in the few times I've seen them. Light show was good, but a very pre-packaged show. They sold out here and had to move the show back to September, so no worries that I didn't grab tix this time around.

ANYWAY I saw them in Pittsburgh back for the by the way tour. They were good, not great. Setlist was good enough and the energy was there but a lot of the energy was from John who is now gone. Anthony doesn't do or say much, flea is in his own little world, but John and Chad really rocked. I am not sure how I feel now without John but I guess I will find out in May. Their setlist didn't include much older stuff other than the big hits, but I know that was because John never liked his playing on the old albums and didn't want to play them, so I'm curious if they will break out anything else now without him.
tried to get tix for the Newark show and didn't have luck on the presale. hope i score for the public sale tomorrow.
I would say they're worth seeing at least once. They may not knock your socks off, but "not that good live" doesn't mean they come out stumbling drunk and can't play their songs or anything. They're still a tight band.
