  • Fieri's genuine enthusiasm for food, and for what he does is great.

I can appreciate anyone's joy over a perfectly cooked, simply prepared steak
or passion for a basic lobster roll.

He visited a place here in Cincinnati that I worked at as my first job.
Definitely a dive, with a line out the door every day at lunch for the last 30 years.

Guy Fieri = Prehistoric Ice Man From The Year 1996

He seems alright enough, but his "coolness" has always been about 10 years behind the curve. Seriously, I haven't heard anybody say "that's tight!" since about '96 or '97.

I think they try WAY too hard to brand him as the cool/Rock 'N Roll chef. A lot of it seems very contrived and often his whole persona just comes off as an act.

    Have y'all seen this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/1 ... 20736.html

I watch it every week. This season it seems like he's been in the same 4 or 5 cities. I've been to around 20 of the places he's had on the show. Some have been really great a lot have been average and a few have been bad.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

    Yep! :P

Though I was a bit shocked they didn't talk about the legendary double deckers.
They are gargantuan and by far their best sellers.
    Nice shirt.

That's what I get most times when I'm there. I live about 10 minutes from there, small world haha.

  • I do like this show, and I understand why some would say Guy is douchey but I think that's just his gimmick...didnt he win the "Next Food Network Star" show and that's how he ended up getting his show? he just played up that personality to get his own TV show; cant say I blame him for that. But overall I bet he's a pretty decent dude. There's been 3 Jacksonville places on his show; one of which I agree (Metro Diner), one of which I do not (Culhanes Irish pub) and one of which I've never been to (13 Gyspies) but I've heard great things.

I really like DDD. It ALWAYS makes me hungry!
I don't mind Guy either. I think the show would have been just as successful with any other "guy"...but I can tolerate him.

maybe it's genuine; maybe not :?

I do know that he knows what the fuck he's talking about when it comes to cooking. that part is not an act.

Even though Guy kind of gets on my nerves, at least he's not this guy...

If Guy Fieri is "kind of douchey", Robert Irvine is an all-out 4 alarm douchebag.

I met that guy when I was on vacation a few weeks ago. He was in fact a pretty big douchebag.

OMG that guy bothers me so much. He's a freaking pinhead!

Diner show is fun to watch but the host is awful. There was a story that came out last month about him being a homophobic misogynistic twit.

Just the fact he wore his sunglasses on the back of his neck was enough for me to decide he was a dip.

We went to see Guy live here in Atl same place as we saw Ed  ...
he's cute as a button, funny, great tunes, really sharp. Had a funny side kick/
    Loved the show!

I think Guy is the best by far at what he does and I like the show but the food looks
well, I'll be kind... it looks RICH, make me sick rich but I like 'meeting' the owners
of the restaurants and seeing a bit of their city or town. Especially long lost Milwaukee! 8-)

His cooking segment is fun when all his guy friends come over and then he always
makes a cocktail to go with his meal... my kind of Guy! :D
