I heard that explanation but think that’s bs.  Hie was in the throwing motion.  Haven’t seen that type of play called a fumble all year,  not a fan of either team so doesn’t affect me at all just didn’t get the fumble call

Don't know what to tell you. That's the rule. If a guy knocks the ball out of a QB's hand, but it is resting on top of his knuckles and he moves his arm forward, that's not a pass, it's a fumble.

Only reason Pats "kicked it short" was the normal kick off guy, Bailey the punter is out, so they had to have 69 year old Nick Folk kick off, he can't reach the end zone most of the time.
