Who'd have thought NE would score all of 13 points!?
Ummm....Tom Brady against big boy defenses pretty much sucked all year. Life is easy when you get 6 games against the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins every year.

    Brady's Stats Regular Season: 63% Comp, 34 TD 8 INT, 4827 Yards
Post Season: 55% Comp 4 TD 2 INT 666 (hmm) Yards

    Stats against: Cards Week 2 28/46 316 1 TD 1 INT
    Ravens Week 3 28/41 355 1 TD 0 INT
    Hawks Week 6 36/58 395 2 TD 2 INT
    49ers Week 15 36/65 443 1 TD 2 INT
    Ravens Playoffs 29/54 320 1 TD 2 INT

So 6 TDs and 7 INTs in 5 games against good defenses, and 31 TDs and 3 INTs (including 2 vs. Jax for no reason) against everyone else. If this were Peyton Manning or Matt Shaub or anyone else we'd be talking about how easy it must be to play the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins 6 times a year to pad stats against. But nooo, just cuz this dude won a few games because of a kicker, an invented rule, and a qb that puked during a hurry up situation a decade ago he still gets a pass. HAHAHA my hatred for this franchise knows very little bounds.

So I was mostly kidding about Tom Brady's Super Bowl Performances but here they are:
    27/41 276 yds 2 TD 1 INT
    29/48 266 yds 1 TD 0 INT
    23/33 236 yds 2 TD 0 INT
    32/48 354 yds 3 TD 1 INT
    16/27 145 yds 1 TD 0 INT

Just had to check it against Montana
    24/32 317 yds 5 TD 0 INT
    23/36 357 yds 2 TD 0 INT
    24/35 331 yds 3 TD 0 INT
    14/22 157 yds 1 TD 0 INT

At least that argument is off the books

Simms did say that and I disagree. Brady is an all time great and has a chance to add to that but the best QB who ever lived would have called timeout at the end of the half. I guess it is just us 'armchair fools' who can see the obvious clock mismanagement as it happens. Damn, that was bad.

I'd take Montana over Brady, but to be fair to Tom, has he ever had a running back/receiver combo like Craig and Rice? I don't think anybody has. Montana also had some fantastic defenses, New England always seems to be lacking in the defense department.

Brady is overrated b/c he's won 3 SB. He's no doubt one of the greatest, but he's benefited greatly from some good defenses with some of the best game planning/cheating ever, not to mention the most clutch kicker.

Yeah Montana surely had the better team, but don't forget that while Brady's defense sucks these days, they were great during their run of three championships in four years. Seymour, Law, Harrison, Bruschi....these guys don't get nearly the credit they deserve. The media would have you believe that Brady and Belichick did it all themselves. Not true. They were a great, complete team....that might have cheated.

i felt like they turned into donovan mcnabb and andy reid at the end of that half. what the hell were they thinking? he should have thrown the ball away instead of trying to gain an extra 3 meaningless yards.

I was responding to someone who said I had to give him his due and saying that I didn't really believe my argument that his heroicism is greatly exaggerated but then sort of tossed up the comparison to Montana just to see. Sorry I didn't make it clear.

  • So now the Rooney rule isn't good enough? I totally understand you need diversity, but teams shouldn't feel that they have to hire a coach/GM based on their skin color. Organizations are going to hire a coach/GM that they think is going to be successful. Plain and simple.

I think the Rooney rule leads to, for a lack of a better term, too many "token" interviews for black coaches. I don't remember which team it was but a few year ago a team was gung-ho on hiring a coach. Everybody knew they wanted him. But they had to honor the Rooney rule. So they trotted Art Shell in for an interview even though he had no chance at getting the job. I think that's worse than not getting an interview to begin with.

Exactly. I forget which coach it was, but I remember what you're talking about here. I feel like it's more of an insult to these minority coaches that are just there to satisfy the Rooney rule.
