Baghdatis has a while to go before he matches Safin in the racquet department

    big. freaking. deal.

i don't mind Hewitt, he's an idiot, but he's our idiot. he had a shocking upbringing, those in Adelaide circles will know how rough it was for him if he didn't perform well in his early career...

You're the second person to mention this rough upbringing.
    Please shed some more light.

cherilyn and glynn are the typical pushy tennis parents. there's no excuse for losing. he was brought up in an environment where losing was not acceptable, and if you did lose, you paid the penalty.

hes the same age as me and in the early years would play other people from my level at school... he did lose in the early yrs.. he wasnt the strongest player at immanuel college at the time, but whether it was his tenacity or fear of being beaten (by his parents as much as his opponent), he certainly improved up to drive level (high level teen tennis) quickly.

catchcries of "hewitts dont know how to lose" at primary school sports days have been bandied around... stories about lleyton being made to walk home from tennis when he lost... why do you think jaslyn quit tennis and took up bodyduilding and is never seen in lleytons players box anymore? jaslyn no doubt got tired of the country amateur circuit, living in her brother's shadow and sick of being slapped across the face by cherylin (yes this happened) when she lost.

ive seen glynn driving lleytons black ferrari around too... nothing like sponging off your kids. but they still sit in his players box.. mummy and daddy.. travelling the world first class wearing all their free sponsors clothing.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

So I will be going for Roger for the tournament unless Lleyton goes deeper.

I'm going for Rafa (surprise). Glad to see his knee isn't giving him any trouble. Not really into womans tennis, but I always like Clijsters.

I'll throw in for the underdog Hewitt because Novak is a total assh*le. I wanted to give him a reprieve because I can tell he's trying to bite his tongue and be nice, but I just can't get past that its totally fake. And his parents just make it 10x worse.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

Love Fed, but hoping for a Del Potro upset :D If that doesn't happen, then I want Fed to go all the way. He's got it in him, just seems to have a mental thing going on with Rafa, and now Novak when it comes to the majors.

Rog was clinical against Tomic, but that boy has a big future. Gave him a bit of a fight
Good to see that he has matured a lot in the past 12 months, and while he might still have cards on himself, he knows that it is a couple of years before he is up there with the best of them.

Ranioc has a future as well, played well, but the fight in Lleyton was too good. Djockervic should trounce him tonight though

He's the perfect example of what can be achieved from maximum effort. He hasn't got the body for modern day tennis, but is effort on court is second to none.

Imagine if we could've mixed hewitts work ethic with the Poo's body and natural talent.

It would be good if Hewitt can impart some of his ethic on Tomic... not sure if they're back to being buddies, but that would be good..

It was nice hearing Rafa speak the other night about how he nearly cried when Lleyton beat the Canadian guy...
