Mine was a joke. I have no factual evidence to support my statement. The obesity rate, mainstream culture (movies, TV, celebrity worship), the political discourse in this country, the inability for humans to progress beyond the ego (stubbornness, pettiness, narrow-mindedness), a world where uneducated opinions are more important than knowledge and facts, the GOP field, the dismissal of science in favor of myth and fairy tale
all these things are surely coincidence and can't possibly be linked to a decline in the collective IQ of American and human society.

All good! Didn't pick up on the sarcasm/joke. :)

What bugs me the most about it is that they try to present it like its the anti-establishment personal thing.

But it's just more bullshit marketing designed as a desperate attempt to get teenagers to go back to church. I know this makes older people feel good but I'm not sure teenagers are going to be swayed by this pile of crap.

If you clicked the link I posted in post two, it's actually a guy ripping the whole tho apart and exposing it for the total sham that it is.
who knows maybe if the 'boys being boys thugs' went back to GOD and really listened
they would feel what they did to that other child.

And the world would be safer place

A young person I am close to refuses to join a church because of the anti gay rhetoric.
I think there are many young people who feel the same.

So here we have a young person rapping speaking of moving away from organized religion
that he feels is biased, that has created wars etc.

And why would this not supported?
A new church based on Jesus that is based in Love for all
  • Quite honestly, I don't really have the energy or time to get into a big throw down about which religious person says they're the most peaceful.

    They all say that.

This guy isn't railing against organized religion, he's trying to distance himself from it but still tells you that HIS church is different.

    Like they all say.

I've been to countless churches and they all claim to be the chosen ones, the ones tha REALLY understand what god wants.

I don't see this guy as any different from Rick Santorum, he's just younger and better looking.

He still says that everyone in the world "deserves" to be nailed to a cross with a crown of thorns and tortured to death.

And sorry, but no. That's just more lies from the Jesus people.

and a church of Jesus that accepts gays and is unbiased is one you would embrace for others
and not denounce as something yet again wrong

I mean it's not just because it is believers believing in God that you dismiss
but the religion that is teaching hate towards gays... then ...?

In my favorite church they don't clain to be different than all the others, or to be the "chosen ones" or that they really understand what god wants. But then, trees don't talk. ;)

I don't think I've mentioned or brought up anything about sexual orientation in this thread at all.

Did you research then this fella? I did not ...
    what church is he promoting?

I thought he was only speaking of Jesus and no church
    I'm interested in learning more...
do you have a link with information or is this a theory based on how you feel about all
    churches and religion?

At the end he fucks up and says that "religion is man looking for god... Christianity is god talking to people" or some bull shit.

Christians are getting desperate. The old people are dying off and the young people aren't buying their crap anymore.
    This his quote

"Religion is man searching for God, Christianity is God searching for man"

quite beautiful really and actually moving the young from the Church to God
showing the separation of the two

God searching for man .... yes that would be the case :D

What was that, like a 2 year ban??

If the only thing you're here to do is insult Christians at every opportunity, I have a feeling your stay will be a short one...

    Have a nice day, tho.

What? Are you the moral authority on the message board now? It's o.k for you to post racist comments about blacks and Palestinians, but you get on your moral high horse when someone criticizes Christianity?

    Too funny!

yes pardon me you did not ... you are right

I based this on previous threads where you displayed anger
towards Christians because of their gay bias... this perhaps is wrong of me

why I was wondering and asked my questions of you

if you would rather not answer my question I understand
    please disregard

    Ya. That's right.
  • And now he's advertising his services as a motivational speaker for Christian youth groups on his twitter and Facebook page.

So he's just like the rest of the snake oil salesmen... Repackaging Christian guilt and selling absolution in the form of public appearances and books.

You'll forgive my cynical nature. But I think we've all seen this played out for the public many times.

I thought I would post the lyrics I found them moving...

What if I told you Jesus came to abolish religion
What if I told you voting Republican really wasn't His mission?
What if I told you republican doesn't automatically mean Christian
And just because you call some people blind doesn't automatically give you vision

I mean if religion is so great, why has it started so many wars
Why does it build huge churches, but fails to feed the poor
Tells single moms God doesn't love them if they've ever had a divorce
But in the Old Testament, God actually calls religious people whores

Religion might preach grace, but another thing they practice
Tend to ridicule God's people, they did it to John The Baptist
They can't fix their problems, and so they just mask it
Not realizing religions like spraying perfume on a casket
See the problem with religion, is it never gets to the core
It's just behavior modification, like a long list of chores
Like lets dress up the outside make look nice and neat
But it's funny that's what they use to do to mummies while the corps rots underneath

Now I ain't judging, I'm just saying quit putting on a fake look
Cause there's a problem if people only know you're a Christian by your Facebook
I mean in every other aspect of life, you know that logic's unworthy
It's like saying you play for the Lakers just because you bought a jersey
You see this was me too, but no one seemed to be on to me
Acting like a church kid, while addicted to pornography
See on Sunday I'd go to church, but Saturday getting faded
Acting if I was simply created just to have sex and get wasted
See I spent my whole life building this facade of neatness
But now that I know Jesus, I boast in my weakness

Because if grace is water, then the church should be an ocean
It's not a museum for good people, it's a hospital for the broken
Which means I don't have to hide my failure, I don't have to hide my sin
Because it doesn't depend on me it depends on him
See because when I was God's enemy and certainly not a fan
He looked down and said I want, that, man
Which is why Jesus hated religion, and for it he called them fools
Don't you see so much better than just following some rules
Now let me clarify, I love the church, I love the bible, and yes I believe in sin
But if Jesus came to your church would they actually let him in
See remember he was called a glutton, and a drunkard by religious men
But the son of God never supports self righteousness not now, not then

Now back to the point, one thing is vital to mention
How Jesus and religion are on opposite spectrums
See one's the work of God, but one's a man made invention
See one is the cure, but the other's the infection
See because religion says do, Jesus says done
Religion says slave, Jesus says son
Religion puts you in bondage, while Jesus sets you free
Religion makes you blind, but Jesus makes you see
And that's why religion and Jesus are two different clans

Religion is man searching for God, Christianity is God searching for man
Which is why salvation is freely mine, and forgiveness is my own
Not based on my merits but Jesus's obedience alone
Because he took the crown of thorns, and the blood dripped down his face
He took what we all deserved, I guess that's why you call it grace
And while being murdered he yelled
"Father forgive them they know not what they do."
Because when he was dangling on that cross, he was thinking of you
And he absorbed all of your sin, and buried it in the tomb
Which is why I'm kneeling at the cross, saying come on there's room
So for religion, no I hate it, in fact I literally resent it
Because when Jesus said it is finished, I believe he meant it

Well I myself sent his message to my children

its a good message in my opinion

Selling absolution I thought he was selling Love and to be True to oneself

To see the separation of Christ or God and Religion

I guess it is all in how you look at things though and what life experiences make you do so
