Went to the show last night, had an amazing time! It apparently didn't sell well, the HOB closed off the upstairs section which hardly ever happens. A lot of people left after Helmet actually - it was cool to finally see them live. I didn't care though, more room for me to rock out When the Toadies took the stage it was awesome! They opened with Backslider and just played a killer set, sprinkling some new songs in like Summer of the Strange and Animals. They played a really awesome array of tunes from every album, including Waterfall from Feeler. When they played Tyler something happened on the floor - some douchebag apparently got into a fight. The band stopped playing and VTL was visibly upset. He actually left the stage and said that they were done. Major bummer. But security got the guy out and the band came back. They played Tyler again and 3 more songs, INCLUDING DOLLSKIN, which made me ever so happy!!!! Closed with I Burn.
All in all an amazing show!!!

Glad you had such a great time! I don't know what it is with D bags at shows latley? Some dude started a fight the night before in Michigan. Was talking to a few road crew peeps about it on FB. I have seen a few fights during "Tyler" down here, and a bunch of crowd surfing, but the crowd was really calm, on the floor this last time, but I was in the balcony anyway. Nice to see they are playing Dollskin on this tour now. I hope they come back towards the end or middle of next year, I already need another Toadies fix. I would love to hear "Magic Bullet" or "the Appeal" live. Also, it pisses me off when people upset VTL, he is one of the nicest musicians that I have ever met.
So I finally got the Play.Rock.Music disc this week and have been jamming to it in my car all week - sounds amazing blasting with the windows open So many dark and dirty sounds on this record, I absolutely love it!

I have to bump this thread. Toadies have been a long time favorite of mine. I saw them in 2001 and again last summer. These guys fucking rock!
Their new album, Heretics has reimagined versions of a lot of their earlier songs as well as some new songs and a great cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass".
Whether you are a fan of theirs or not, this album is worth hearing, IMO. It was expertly recorded, mixed and mastered and contains some of the most beautiful songs about stalking, general creepiness and twisted murderous behavior one is ever likely to hear.

New album "The Lower Side of Uptown" is damn good. DAMN GOOD, I say.
Definitely listen to this one cranked up. It's slower compared to some of their other albums but has a lot of the swampy, sludgy groove that Toadies have perfected over the years. Not a bad tune on the album. I can see this one easily becoming a big part of my regular rotation.
Can't wait to see them again next month.
