This is basically a thread for red mos and I but who else love either one of these bands? Great lead singer, strange but awesome lyrics and music that always rock! Of course both bands are similar and different but both bands are amazing!

That's true...Rubberneck has alot of songs about religion in it...but they are still good!

One of my all time favorite bands. I've seen them live 4 times, once on the Hell Below Stars Above tour, and then they came to town 3 time on No Deliverance. The last time I seen them was by far my favorite. It was in a really small club, with a stage that was only like 3 feet off the ground and me and my friend were front row literally about 3 feet away from Todd the whole night, screaming along to every single damn song. I finally lost my spot when the crowd went APE SHIT as soon as it got to the "I FIND A WINDOW IN THE KITCHEN" part of "Tyler". I'm too damn old for moshing and shit like that but man was that a lot of fun.
I've been lucky enough to meet Todd and the guys after each show I've been too and I think he's by far the nicest "rock star" I've ever met. He has signed each one of my CD covers and they're all in a frame in my basement.
What's your guys favorite album? I guess Rubberneck is obviously everybody's go to, but HBSA is by far my favorite. You'll Come Down, Pressed Against the Sky, HBSA, and Dollskin are just flat out damn amazing songs.
My wife and I had our first kid in 2002 and she had a huge list of names picked out that she wrote down on a piece of paper and I went through saying which ones I liked and didn't and then I got to Tyler on the list and I said "Hey that's an awesome Toadies song, let's go with that". So yeah, my kid is somewhat named after a Toadies song haha.

I meant to get into the Burden Brothers but never really got the chance. Is VTL still doing that at all?
Dollskin is amazing. There are very few songs out there that are better than that song in my honest opinion.
I believe Burden Brothers are done now that Toadies are back together, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still released something new one day. However, I could be completely wrong about that.

WHOA WHOA...Toadies and Social D in Illinois??!!! Together??!!!
Hell Below/Stars Above is such a great album. Love Dollskin and Pressed Against the Sky.
Saw them 2x. Once right before No Deliverance, and once right after. Both great shows. The 2nd time was in a small bar in New Haven, CT (Toads Place ). The place was freakin EMPTY! Literally, maybe 50 people there aside from the employees. Crazy shit.
Such an underrated band.
Rubberneck = when I fell in love w/ the Toadies.
Isnt it funny how you can listen to a song, or album...no matter how many years after you first heard it, and it always brings you right back to that place/time in your life? This is one of those albums for me.
April 28 at Pops in Sauget IL. It's a long drive for me but I'm in need of a good rock and roll road trip and you can't go wrong with Toadies AND Social D.

And it probably depends more on the venue in terms of the ticket pricing, but I dont remember paying more than $35 to see the Toadies, and thats pretty much unheard of anymore!
The show in IL is almost $40 with all the stupid service charges.

Yeah that's about a 5 hour drive for me but I'm really considering it...that's gonna be a killer show!
No kidding. 5 hours and 45 for me from Cincinnati according to Mapquest. I've only seen Social D once and I've been itching for another Toadies show, so why not?!
You should go and we'll have our own little 10C meetup!

That'd be awesome!
Same here, I can't even remember how many times I saw The Toadies in Deep Ellum back in high school or college. They were always great live and Rubberneck is an amazing album. I didn't get into the other albums as much but they were still pretty solid. Them and The Nixons were my favorite local bands in that time period.
Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

I don't know how it was everywhere else, but around here they were a one-hit wonder. I think they were from Oklahoma, they may have been bigger up there, but around here that song Sister got played to death and everybody got tired of it. Lots of people had the single, but I don't remember anybody actually having the album. And you didn't really need the single, it was never more than 5 minutes away from being played on one of the radio stations.
I think I bought the full album because of that song, but I sure don't remember any of it anymore.
I am rethinking this Toadies roadtrip now though. I asked them on Twitter if they were going to do a full set on the Social D tour and they replied back and said they're playing for 45 minutes. I don't know if I can justify a 6 hour drive to see that short of a set. Even though Social D kicks ass, Toadies would be my main reason for going.

It's impossible not to!
I find a window in the kitchen, and I let myself in
Rummage through the refrigerator, find myself a beer
I can't believe I'm really here, and she's lying in that bed
I can almost feel her touch, and her anxious breath!
I stumble in the hallway, outside the bedroom door
I hear her call out to me, I hear the fear in her voice
She pulls the covers tighter, I press against the door
I will be with her tonight!

I've probably seen Toadies about 15-20 times. Been to soundcheck a few times too.
Saw Burden Brothers like 10 times I think. Those shows were epic because they played a bar right across from University of North Texas on fry street alot and that place held like maybe 500 people (if that many). They blew the roof off that Dive. Vaden once comented about how he played this bar when it was a different name (Rick's place). Told the crowd he was going to play a new song and didicate it to this bar. The Burden Brothers launch into "I come from the water" (Vaden used to not play Toadies stuff once BB got rolling and had albums out). The place went Apeshit! I was third row and then ended up literally on someone's shoulders and almost on the stage. Didn't wanna get kicked out. Oh man, fun fun fun times in Denton on fry street.
