I am indeed Scottish, been living in Ireland for the last 15 years but. I haven't heard most of the words you posted in years. I do use gallus a wee bit, to the extent that a few of my west of Ireland mates are also using it, and numpty is now in fairly widespread use in the Galway area.

Where are you from? I'm from Dumfries.

8-) I'm on the East Coast but lived in Edinburgh for many years.I know Dumfries :D I love our language, love how it gets us looks of :wtf:  when we speak it :D

I once uttered the phrase "Aw man thons enuff tae gae ye the boak" while living in Canada and describing KFC nuclear green coleslaw  When I looked up I was faced with a sea of frozen expressions.

Love Ireland though ... what took you there so long ago? If I'm not being nosey, which I am

I met a girl (now my wife) when she was training to be a nurse in Dumfries, I hated my work, and , I have to say, the drink/drugs aspect of the town, so when she suggested moving 'home' I jumped at the chance. I deliberately haven't lost the accent though, I get a lot of 'you've a lovely accent' and funny looks because of some of the words and phrases I use.

One of my favourite 'funny look' phrases, especially when watching football is 'he couldnae hit a coo on the erse wi' a shovel' I think they think I'm Icelandic or something...

First, you need to know that I am part French..... When I was little, I heard a word on the news and loved the sound of it. Didn't know what it meant. The word is 'péripapéticienne'. I kept on repeating it until my godfather told me, very gently and quietly, not to use it all the time. It's just a fancy word for 'lady of the night'! But it did sound fun - still does!

A very good friend of mine is buddhist, so I know Samye Ling well, it is beautiful.
My mother uses besom all the time, I know what she means, she knows what she means, you know what she means, but try explaining the meaning of the word to anyone who doesn't.

Never really used muckle, mind, I think it's more an East coast thing, although I think Langholm is called 'The Muckle Toon' for some reason (it's not very big!!!)
