They've played only a small handful of 30-song sets in their day. You're overestimating the length of their typical setlists.
Regardless - you know they ended 5-10 minutes before curfew... they almost always go a tiny bit over if not more...

Amazing first set... encores were as 'meh' as they come.

I've been reminded tonight about what I hate about these threads sometimes. A handful of dudes come in with about five off-the-wall songs they want to hear, and if none of them were played, then the set was "lame" or "repetitive" etc etc. It doesn't matter how much off-the-wall shit they actually play, if it's not these five particular off-the-wall songs, then it sucked.

I need to remind myself to be prepared for these chuckleheads, and these threads will be more fun.

    It was fun anyway.

yeah i know but still compared to most bands dude 25 is a killer length.

they will be pushing 30 a night later on...
they started a little late as well
most shows have scheduled 8.45 on stage time
    2003 - Sydney x3,
    2006 - Reading Festival,
2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,
    2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,
    2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,
2010 - I watched it go to fire!
    2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,
    2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,
    2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

there is a perfect explanation for the lack of balls the 2 encores had...shitty crowd (and for the record, the first encore sucked balls just by looking at the songs, the 2nd wasn't too bad)

yeah and sometimes a show can be defined by the band/crowd energy and how they played the songs...not necessarily by setlist alone...

    I enjoyed it...thanks for relaying

    Opening night 2008 - West Palm - 25 songs
    Opening night 2006 - Toronto - 24 songs
    Opening night 2003 - Brisbane - 23 songs

Pretty typical. Killer set tonight though. Can't wait to hear it.

Alright, I wanna start by saying I think Pearl Jam fans ( us) are the best fans in the world as far as music goes and i think PEARL JAM is the best bAND TO THeir fans..

BUt i am annoyed tonight at the fricken stuck up A$$HOLE fans... let me qualify myself quickly... 22 shows ( 27 if you count the last 5 of this tour im going too) and about 500 shows one disc or dvd...

Its the first show of the fricken tour and the bands first show in almost a year... 24 songs almost 2 hrs... who you are for first time in 10 years... a new cover Sad and OCEANS as an opener... in front of what we know to be as a CRAPPY crowd ( most of florida is) HOW CAN YOU BITCH ABOUT THAT SHOW give me a break.. i was at both MSG 03 shows, Both Boston 06 shows and all 3 Boston 03... Ive seen some of their best, this is not a bad show... and it is exactly what is expected of a first show for them and its still a better show than 99% of all other bands... PUT your fricken PJ EGO away its a good fricken show.. 7 shows from now when they are kicking are as with 3 hrs 30 songs and all sorts of shit youll be right on the bandwagon... How bout Supportin the band that does more for us than any other band...

Yep. The only real excpetion to that is 2005 when they opened at The Gorge and we all know how epic that was.

People get too worked up over silly stuff on this board sometimes.

I would kill for a 25 song opening of the tour in Dallas.

There was 24 songs tonight. No More should never count. Ever. It should actually subtract a song from the set. So now we're down to 23. Can we get lower?

i thought the main set was damn good...probably an 8.5/10

as has been stated, encores were a bit weak...maybe 5/10.

overall, a fine start to a tour. see you all here tomorrow night!

You read my mind. I loved the main set- but the encores I'm not too fond of. I'd be happy to see that setlist- but not ecstatic.

i love how people feel the band owes them something. like they need to play a setlist peppered with their particular favorite songs and a bunch of songs they consider rarities, to avoid being "lame". who the hell are you? let them play what they want to play. it's their music, and their concert. how dare they play alive? what pricks, huh?

don't buy tickets next time if you don't like it. no matter how much you bitch, eddie isn't going to talior HIS setlists made up of HIS songs played at HIS show to meet your particular wishes.

be happy they're still together and playing shows. or maybe you'd all be happier if they just broke up and never played again. then you could spend your money on daughtry tickets and bitch about his setlists.
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

I browse this thing a lot but I hardly ever post. But, it amazes me how many folks want to bitch and whine over what's gonna be played, what was played etc etc. It makes me wonder how many posters were actually around when "Alive" first came out...and continuously supported the band ever since. It seems that a lot of posters just want to "try to be different" and rag everything that the band has done that has received mainstream recognition. I first saw PJ in September of 92 in Honolulu and it wouldn't bother me if they played those songs every damn time they played. I love the newer stuff, but just because something is new or not received as well as some of their earlier efforts doesn't make it better. Really, all of you whiners should just be happy PJ is on the road where you can pay to go watch em and complain about everything that doesn't suit you. I don't give a damn what they play, I just love the band and the music.

    See y'all in VA Beach

I've been reminded tonight about what I hate about these threads sometimes. A handful of dudes come in with about five off-the-wall songs they want to hear, and if none of them were played, then the set was "lame" or "repetitive" etc etc. It doesn't matter how much off-the-wall shit they actually play, if it's not these five particular off-the-wall songs, then it sucked.

Here Here, there are a lot dumbass PJ fans on this site. You can be critical that you would like to see a certain song and be positive at the same time. I hate the people who just whine and are only negative.
