Neo-cons...never underestimate the evangelical neo-cons...Huckabee was a similar option for them in 08...who knows...I am shocked that he did so well, but he was ignored by the media scrutiny for much of the time because of his low polling numbers...his record will come out and people will realize he isn't the conservative he claims to be....sure he is a chicken hawk, and he has most of the social conservative bases covered, but he doesn't have the record of voting conservatively fiscally that would differentiate him from Romney enough.
Good showing for Rick...i am shocked...I would imagine all of the democratic strategists are salivating at the thought of having to run against Rick Santorum...that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

The conservatives who voted for Huckabee last time have been wanting 'someone like them' during this whole process, and each time one gets put into the spotlight, he/she gets made a mockery of (and in each case, rightly so) ... meanwhile Santorum seems to have run a very good ground campaign, staying under the radar long enough to avoid scrutiny. I don't think he'll end up being the nominee, but he could take enough support from the other conservative candidates in order to outplace Romney's and Paul's supporters. I still think Romney will go on to win this, and as for Ron Paul, his brand of conservative libertarianism is just not going to catch on with the public.
huh? i thought it had already caught on. that was the whole point.
He managed to convince 26,219 Iowans to vote for him, for 21% of the total vote. Hardly catching fire. That's what his supporters got from all the money bombs they contributed to. I kinda feel bad for them. I don't feel bad for everyone who donated to Rick Perry's bomb of a campaign tho.
So with Perry and Bachmann out, I'm assuming their supporters will go to Romney and Santorum, and Gingrich's supporters (scary to think he has even one) will filter that way too.
I'm seeing supporters of Ron Paul freaking out all over the internet today... many of them blaming the American people... the people they claimed Ron Paul represented. Sorry, but the Republicans don't want him, and the American people sure as hell don't want him either. We're not THAT crazy.0
