thank you, sir. it was badass as always. i still feel the painful burn so i dug harder and got into the aquatic struggle nicely.

i tore my knee about 4 years ago. i took a lot of percocet during that time. i did originally take them for pain, but i had a lot left over and really abused them. they are dangerous .

i have to say though that they are probably my most favourite drug i have ever taken (street wise or legal).the feeling you got was so amazing. it was like i was on a cloud.......... until the side effects kicked in and then it wasn't so great.

i eventually stopped taking them, but always had that itch to get a hold of more. i didn't touch them for a couple years until one of my friends had a prescription for some and gave me two. it was awful. nothing like i remembered. i was pretty much ko'd on the ground. i got super hot. i remember laying in front of his air conditioner feeling like his apartment was 100 degress in there. so now i'm really turned off of the idea of taking them again.

Did you ask your doc about other meds for pain relief? I had both femurs broken at both ends (one is still fractured) and a shattered forearm. Lots of pain and have been on many painkillers. Never has methadone been a safe option that was ever recommended.

it feels as if i have not taken anything. methadone 5mg tablet form is quite weak in my opinion.

people are ill informed i believe. when folks hear or read the word heroin and all the connections thereof, people get alarmed and their guards go up. methadone is one grade above your common asprin. methadone is overrated and non addictive.
    in my opinion...

please do not go home and slam pill bottles fulla pills. always keep meds put up and away. this my motto.

methadone seems to carry a negative connotation, but I have heard of it being prescribed for chronic pain.

Chad, this I think is kinda the point of it. Maintenance drug. You shoudlnt "feel it" unless you abuse it. Of course its addictive , Its a narcotic replacement therapy using SYNTHETIC narcs!!!!

Not my business, but I strongly suggest asking your Doc the plan on becoming narc med free!

i suggest you walk in my boots for a moment in time. you will have extreme pain 24x7. rolling around in bed as you sleep away the night is hell all on its own and wakes up. the knee rattles and strikes. the shoulder, the hip, the agony is real. in no soon time will i ever be off pain killers.

daily i am challenged to survive and i do it well for being as broken as i am.

you are my non-drinking buddy. let's keep it at that so to speak. we both conqured our alcoholic demons...this one here is of non the same

Nearly 2 years ago, me and my husband. I've been on several different types, most of them worked, the dilauded was the best. But I weened off of them when I felt I could go a little longer without needing more. If none of these painkillers are helping you, you seriously need to seek out a chronic pain specialist. Or go see an acupuncturist.

Most of the people on the Methadone for heroin take a liquid version of the drug. That makes it work and react much different than the pill form.

I do know that it is prescribed with other pain meds to keep you from having that "high" feeling from other pain meds.

It is a good medication to use for weaning off other pain meds because it is such a long lasting drug.

I dont know why any doctor would prescribe this for pain that is not part of a pain management program. It is very odd and rare for a doctor to prescribe this medication unless you are on other opioids for chronic pain that you will be dealing with for a long time. Meaning I dont think it should be prescribed for after surgery and not for broken bones.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Quite the thread here (and some good music to boot). Wise words and perspectives. A lot of understanding and compassion.

I know nothing about methadone but do know that when it gets bad enough, pain can spread from the body to the mind. It's draining.

I hope you can find what works for YOU in the best way - what brings relief and therefore peace - yet still allows for that badass humor and writing of yours to shine through.

(I'm still amazed you swim every bloody day)
