I'm with the people who say not to bring her if she's not into their music. No reason you need to convert her, plus you'll have a much better time if you bring someone who will have a good time. If you're going to be worrying about her experience, you're not going to have much fun either. Been there, done that, now I just go to shows with people who are fully into it or go by myself  Better for everyone this way.

If she's the one who wants to go, then just bring her, maybe send her some youtube clips for her to see what she will experience. No sense in sugar coating anything. If this is your thing and she's coming along for the ride, you shouldn't be worrying about her experience.

Play her some Napalm Death (Enemy of the Music Business is a personal fave),Nile or Carcass, then Tool will seem like some nice chill out, ambient night out!

Play her some John Tesh, and she will be begging you to hear ANYTHING but John Tesh.
  • If she is going to college for vocal performance I'd start with Parabol, Disposition, Reflection. Then slowly ease into stuff like Jimmy, H, Sweat. If she is on board after that then she's all good for anything I think.

I'd get her to hear some of the songs first. Concerts are always better when you know some of the music then you can enjoy the songs that you know, at least. That being said, I've just started to listen to some of their music myself. I'd happily have the ticket if she doesnt want it!
