How to introduce someone to Tool without scaring

Ok, I hope there are others that also like the band TOOL as well. I am taking my cousin to her first concert (she is 18) and am trying to figure out a way to introduce her to Tool and not scare her away. It is going to be a challenge, I know as I have less than a month and she is going to college for vocal performance, but only listens to show tunes. Help!

    If she's not familiar at all with Tool, you are going to ruin this young woman's concert experience for life.

    I'm not a fan of Tool at all either. Really, if she only likes showtunes I'm not sure this is the best band for her. Does she like any rock music at all? Are there any Tool songs that might sound similar to some contemporary songs she does like?

    That's what I was thinking. If she likes showtunes, the only connection may be Tool's theatrics and even that's a stretch. There's not many of their tunes I would call non fan friendly.


    Maybe you should be trying to scare here instead of the opposite.

    Give her Aenema or Lateralus to listen to. If she doesnt like either of those, she's not going to like Tool.

    Or you could just give her a few hits of acid, she'll enjoy the show whether or not she likes the music :lol:

    I'd say just take her to the show (which one by the way? Hoping to catch them in Hampton). If anything, have her listen to Lateralus, but the show itself will either make her a fan or not. I went to my first Tool show with my brother who didn't really listen to them/like them, but he enjoyed the show itself. And now that their show is even more visual, if the music isn't doing anything for her, at least she'll have something interesting to watch.

    Not everyone is going to like Tool so I'm guessing she's going to hate it. Taking her to a Tool show would be like someone taking me to a country or rap show. If she didn't specifically ask to go, I'd give that ticket to someone who'd appreciate it.
