you are right...we should totally just keep doing things the same way...that is the kind of change I can believe in

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be refreshing if someone in government would come out and draft legislation to lower the debt limit? I am not talking about not raising it...I mean lowering it...I would love that....anyone know of any politician current or otherwise who has tried?

I am not talking about trying to pay down the debt, I am talking about actually passing legislation that lowers the actual debt limit...
I would love for there to be some sort of clinton 96 agreement that balances the budget...man that would be nice to see the deficit spenders reign it in and balance the god damn thing...it cannot happen in the time of neo-con foreign policy and nation building though...

Raising the debt celing and a 'debt hike' are two different things.

    If you say so.

But if you oppose either, I say you hate half-black people.

The question would be: "if you oppose it now, why didn't you oppose it when Bush Jr. did it?"

What if I hate the half-white side of him, and I'm white?

Nothing, but it probably means you voted for him. White guilt is the most powerful kind.

That would be a great question to ask "mainstream" Republicans.

True conservatives opposed it under W, also.

The Romney's and McCain's and Bush's of the world are just as bad as the Obama's, when it comes to spending.

    Stop the spending.

I'd say Reagan needed to do it- we we're winning the Cold War- and you know how we did it?

We OUTSPENT them. God, I love capitalism.

    ok i get it...

spending was ok under saint reagan, but it is a no-no under obama...

    no double standard there...

I say needed. The spending created 20 million jobs, and reversed the effects of Carter's failed policies.

Now- we've lost our credit rating, and our debt is SO big, that we may very well be living in a post-Ameican world already. That probably makes a few hearts flutter with glee on here, but if you think things are bad now- just wait til Obama's utopia gets here. I'd stay out of the cities if I were you....or me...

There has to be a limit. We have reached that limit.

To say that people who are opposed to more spending now, are opposed because they don't like black people, is nothing more than inflammatory race-baiting.

In the last years of the Cold War, the Soviet Union was devoting 25.5% of its GDP to military spending. Reagan was using 6.5% of the US GDP.

And the Soviets were wrapping up a costly war in Afghanistan right before their collapse as well. Read into that what you will.
