It is kind of insane that the list only has 541 participants. Are there 1500 owners who don't know what they have on their hands?
There are all kinds of reasons people might not want to participate. Perhaps they don't want the 10 Club to be able to track if they ever decide to sell it. Perhaps they don't like to brag.

I don't see why that is an unreasonable ask? Everything has its value to people.. Personally I think the value of an album that most people will just look at on a shelf or collect dust with because of it rarity, although extremely rare and awesome to some people, may have less value than a once in a lifetime live musical holy grail experience.. To each their own...
This may not be the proper place to ask, and it may not be for a "friend" who knows..lol People will do desperate things for tickets and merch now won't they???

^^Thanks, I have my own tickets, and there is no way I'd sell them (nor would my wife let me even if I wanted to).
I don't get why that is unreasonable either. Face value of the record was about 1/6 of the face value of the tickets. I don't understand why it's okay to sell/buy a Benny for $1000+ (that retailed for like $50) when tickets to that show cost about ($300) after fees and are currently going for about $1600 a pair. In either case it's overvaluing something, but in a trade it could be a good way for people to exchange something of relatively equal value without supporting secondary markets. Isn't that the whole point, that we don't want to be supporting secondary markets?
By way of example, my friend could just sell them for $1600, and then buy a Benny, but that would support both Stubhub and EBay, whereas a trade would support neither and allow someone with the record to go to the show, and someone who has wanted the record for ages, to get the record. Which is the reason I didn't feel bad about passing it along.

Part of the fun is trying to figure out 10c's arbitrary policies. They absolutely abhor scalping. Ticket resellers are verboten. Can't even talk about them. But flipping (the merch equivalent of scalping) is somehow good fun for the 10c and band. They enable and encourage price gouging for merch. Just don't do it with tickets. Because tickets are not merch. They're somehow more sacred.

Asking for a friend, any present members of the Benny club want to trade for (non-10C) but good pair of ToTD Sea #2 tickets?
C'mon man...

I agree...this policy is hypocritical... I will spend the money I feel something has to me for any item that I can afford, proportional to the value of the item or event. That is my personal choice. To each their own. I will obey the rules set forth by the band on their forums, and through the Tickets purchased through the Ten Club. I also believe that their are considerable holes in their reasoning and policies, but they do attempt to try balance fairness with being a money making business. In the end they are a business that sells stuff, not just creates and plays music..

I agree and in this case they are not 10c tickets, and are essentially being offered at less than face value. So With all respect Tempo, I just don't get your position. To each their own I guess.

I think the point mwplum made is accurate.. The value of a Benny as far as Pearl Jam is concerned should be what it was originally sold for. To trade that for tickets is less than Concert Tickets... definitely not scalping.. If people decide to inflate the value because it is a rare item should be none of the bands concern. That is an artificial number set by fans not the band.

It's the flipping argument. I think people are a lot more comfortable if someone sells something they've had in their collection for years than someone who buys something to sell it for immediate profit shortly after buying it. Flipping isn't exactly a condoned action in these parts
I agree flipping is not, and should not be used as currency. People should buy what they need for their own personal collection, however I wonder how many people traded for a benny, and how many paid a ridiculous amount of actual money for it? The amount of time that transpired between these two things shouldn't be relevant. If someone lets it age for awhile and then they sell something for ten times the amount then it is ok, but if they do it right away that is frowned upon? The whole thing is silly. It either is, or it isn't. Personally I'm a buyer not a seller, so it doesn't do anything but hurt me...I purchase only for me and my wife... not to resell or for trade bait.. If someone has something that they own and then they realize they want something else that has more value to them... ??? who am I to judge...
I think the issue was, can tickets recently purchased be traded for a benny originally sold for a lesser cost, even if years ago be a fair and policy compliant trade?
I don't see why not...

I don't see why not...
There's two things:
1) It's only an issue on this website. You can't sell tickets for more than face. It doesn't say you can sell old collectable PJ stuff for more than face, but you can't sell tickets for more than face. Valuing a benny at $50 seems to be attempt at a loophole to get around this specific websites anti scalping policy.
2) It's only on this website. If it becomes an issue due it on the facebook group or ebay or something.. lol.

The issue is, I don't agree with the premise that it is more than face value. The trade is for an item that is priced for less than the tickets, not its value.
You can't call it scalping if something is traded for something else that has a perceived or artificial value. That price is only created by a virtual value. The ACTUAL price of the Benny is what it was purchased from the Ten Club for.
I think we are belaboring the point, but it seems very clear to me. There can't be any policy violation.
If item "A" was originally sold for less than the tickets face value and wants to trade it for concert tickets to person "B", it doesn't matter what anyone feels the value of that item is, or what they are willing to trade or sell it for.

I think the issue was, can tickets recently purchased be traded for a benny originally sold for a lesser cost, even if years ago be a fair and policy compliant trade?
I don't see why not...
If it becomes an issue due it on the facebook group or ebay or something.. lol.
Joking. Good for you.
