One personal item? WTF!? Does that mean it's either my poster tube or my backpack? I've never had to worry about this kinda shit. Someone explain what a personal item would be.

No, I live in Alexandria, but meeting up with everyone in Falls Church, hence the yellow line. I can take the springfield stop straight to Gallery, no prob.

I've seen them at MMP too, but I prefer the Verizon Center cause it's much easier to access. Have you ever tried getting out of MMP or Nissan after the show? You can probably play an entire boot in your car.

I referenced "bushleaguer" cause I read Mike's recent interview about how Ed comes up with the set lists, "he examines the atmosphere of the place". What better place than this, considering his approval rate is down to 33%.

  • I'll be there with three others. If we can get there early enough, we'll check out RFD. Not sure where my 180XXX will get me, but I can't wait.

Welcome to our world. From the site, they are pretty specific:

"All bags, briefcases, book bags or items similar in nature will be searched as patrons enter the arena. Each patron attending events will be allowed one personal item that falls within the following size constraints: no longer than 13 inches, taller than nine and a half inches and wider than six inches. Items that do not fit within these size limitations will not be allowed in the arena."

So the poster tube is out, and I guess you need to measure your backpack.

Coming from Raleigh, NC to see them since they are bypassing the south.
  • Why do you need a backpack for a show? Poster tubes I understand, but what goes in the backpack, your eyeliner?

You can jam a t-shirt into your cargo short pockets. Tie the hoodie around your waist. Leave the survival gear at home.

Been to every DC area show since 1991
I wouldn't want Eddie to have to look out into the audience and not see me
Though I do miss seeing them at Merriwether Post

hey i thought you were moving? just couldn't stay away huh. :)

If your member # is 180XXX, I would put you in either Section 1 or 2, 8-10 rows back. Based on my Chicago shows experience, I was no worse than 6th row, with #118XXX. DC should be similar cause I think we have less 10C people here than other major cities.

Man, during the 96 tour, MPP was a nitrous playground, and it was hard enough driving through the minefield of the passed out. but we were the VERY LAST car in the parking lot, searching for one of the 10 of us that never made it back to the car. Turns out he was trying to jump the barricade to get down to the seats sometime during the show, but the crowd rushed up pinning his leg against the barrier while the rest of the crowd pushed his upper body over the wall. Femur...snap. Nobody in our group was there. Finally found him at a hospital somewhere in Howard County. Sorry, not exactly pertinent to the discussion, but figured I had to share.

Using somebody elses 356XXX seats! wohoo! Better than what I could have gotten elsewhere at that point, though. Gets me in the building. Not sure how it is going to compare to Camden, though.

    Camden:
    Outside
    Weekend
    Parking Lot Tailgate

    DC:
    Inside
    Weeknight
    City/Bar "tailgate"

I really wish DC came before Camden, so that I could end on what I personally think will be the higher note. Hopefully the political pull of the area will be enough to draw some extra energy from the boys and overcome some of the downsides here. Hope we get an incredible show!

Looking forward to this show the most out of the ones I'm going to. In the capital of the U.S. with the White House and Capitol right down the street. How could the band not be on fire (with rage?).

Nice, you can catch the UMD championship game at the Linc in Philly while you are up for the weekend :) Congrats on the degree, got my undergrad there, but strayed to the ACC foe Hokies for my almost finished Masters.

I bring a bottle of water, camera, smokes and stuff like that. I also buy shirts, stickers and other stuff once inside the show and I don't want it on the floor to get lost and fucked up. Eyeliner? WTF?! Some peoples kids...

Thanks julienova, that clears it up for me a bit.

No problem, I wouldn't want you to have anything turned away. I commute on DC Metro every day, and will be headed to the show straight from work. I live in my backpack, so I'm glad I found out about this in advance. As a girl, who doesn't wear eyeliner or cargo pants with pockets, I can relate.

I do find it hard to swallow that terrorists are poised to blow up the Verizon Center with oversized backpacks during a Pearl Jam concert.
