wonder if other news outlets will pick up on this... purely for the hilarity of it all. :lol:
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

You just couldn't make this shit up.

Ed to 10C management: "So, huh, hows the ticket sales for Europe going?"
10c to Ed: "Erm, not well. Site crashed due to sabotage. No 10C sale".
Ed: "Ok. Seems a reasonable excuse".

I don't know what to think anymore. Surely the band don't believe there was there a sabotage? If they do then I'm sorry but they are fools.

I don't know what the band thinks, but I doubt that 10c runs every single statement they release by the band. Yes, ultimately 10c works for the band so they are accountable, but if Ed were involved I don't think he'd be okay with this.

Not much of a band if they don't stay updated. Even if 10c doesn't tell them, is it hard that to between surfing and plaing uke to check in here and just get a "vibe"?

I think we will get a statement from the band.

i am just wondering when are we going to get enlightened that the sabotage on 10c tix presale was a part of wider, e-guerrilla attack on the whole United States and its Brittish ally performed by Iranian and Venezuelan hackers.

no offence to Iran and Venezuela, of course. Just laughing it all up.

I hope we do. I agree the band should stay somewhat up to date. As I mentioned in another thread, I think they probably placed their trust in people running the show and unfortunately, it turned out to be a mess. My only point with my initial response to boyo was that I disagree that Ed would brush this off if he knew about it. There's no debate about whether they should to something about this following what happened over the last few days. I hope at this point they will intervene.

What I think is cooking here is that we - Pearl Jam fans - have (too) strong inclination to think of the band members and 10C staff as some kind of collective santa's, good spirits or jedi knights who will step in when shit hits our members'/fans' fan. whereas these are artists, professional musicians who focus on making music and living off it. (of course various exceptions apply on some occasions, etc.). by analogy 10c staff are people dedicated to run the commercial side of band-fans relationship. also focused on making profits. we are not getting anything for free here. it has all been paid for, and paid for in BIG $$$$$$$. like it or not.
i dont intend to get involved into deep discussion on 10c and stuff like whether EV and Co. are cute and so on. i am way too pissed off at the presale to do so. just wanted to point out that Pearl Jam is not a charity and i can imagine them not knowing about any of these acts of cyber sabotage [sic] or caring about it. they just come on stage and play their shit. and this is what it is. to me.

sorry if i am ruining it for anyone.

I would agree with you if Ten Club had tried only through their own servers... CrowdSurge is a highly competent ticketing site though, and to crash their servers I'm not sure a DDoS attack is so far out of the question... I'm just not really sure who actually has a vendetta against Pearl Jam, it just seems a bit farfetched.

I don't see anything happen. 10c saying they will investigate the 'sabotage'. Yeah, that's likely to happen. It'll get swept under the carpet and never heard of from them again.

My point was not that Ed or the other guys would be happy with what has happened in the last 2 days but I find it hard to understand if they accept the explanation that 10c has provided. If this was my band, I'd want to know how ticket sales have gone. We know how hands-on Ed and Jeff are with albums designs, t-shirts etc. I find it hard to believe that not one member of Pearl Jam would know of the events this week. And if they believe the 'sabotage' excuse then....well Iets just say the 5 of them are alot more intelligent than that.

I think we're both saying the same thing about what the band "should do", just we are expecting different outcomes. You don't see anything happening. I'm hopeful something will. Guess we'll see.

    Things to consider:

-CrowdSurge has done high-demand ticket pre-sales before. I find it improbable that they could be told "we have an allocation of _ tickets for _ shows, and usually get _ people logging on within a period of _ minutes", and not know with certainty whether they can or can't handle the load

-The same statement is posted on CrowdSurge's website, as well as Ten Club's. To me, this is independent confirmation from both parties that something unusual has happened

-The term 'sabotage' is very juvenile, and almost immediately sounds laughable when a company 'suspects sabotage'. Especially when that company is a band's fan club. That said, the very real DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack is one where there is an attempt to make a site become unreliable (think many computers simultaneously pressing refresh - almost like an extreme and intentional version of what we see when we crash Ten Club's servers)

-If this was a DDoS attack, this is a legal issue, and I would assume that an investigation would occur. If this is the case, would the fan club or CrowdSurge be disclosing information to the public on the matter?

This adds nothing to the ticketing discussion and isn't within the Posting Guidelines so it's going to be closed. We'll have a new Ticketing discussion thread after some thread reviews.
