Where to stay

I'm really wanting to go to Europe for a show or two this summer...wife has the time off, I have the time off...but damn, I thought hotels were expensive in US cities!

Seriously, $400 a night for a hotel in Amsterdam?!

What (if any) tips do any of the locals overseas have for finding the best prices for hotels/lodging?

Don't know if I can commit to an overseas trip having to shell out 2 grand for 4-5 nights, even if my flight is free!

    its not that expensive to get hotels in europe in uk travel lodge about 80 for a double room

    Maybe a Hotel nearby Amsterdam , you can go by train to the venue , its really easy to get there.
