I'm gonna guess Mike will be a for sure yes.

Ed I'd say 50/50.

No way on Jeff, Stone or Matt (because he'd have 2 bands of info to divulge).

Side question...

Who plays each member in the eventual movie (even if the movie is biography)?

They made the Doors movie, PJ is destined to be recreated.

Ed-Paul Rudd, Colin Farrel, Johnny Depp
EDIT RDJ

Mike-Phillip Seymour Hoffman (thin), Barry Pepper

Stone-Josh Hartnet, Scott Caan (pretty short), Casey Affleck, EDIT Jude Law

Jeff-Scott Caan, Ryan Gosling

Matt-Jason Sudekis, Matt Damon

Boom-Sam Elliott, Jack Black

Please... Don't be rude... Have fun.

IMO I don't think that any of them will write an autobiography, they have done that through song.

As for the movie, we are a far way out from that. It will happen, but those actors are the same age or older and they won't be around to play the band young.

I hope that I am wrong about the books, but i don't think that I am. They have had a different lifestyle than the people whom write books such as the doors or rolling stones.

Thanks for the post, after all that is why we are here.

    The in between is mine!

You raise good points... and what part of their career do they do the movie? maybe it starts younger and ends with older??

I do hope they all write a book... maybe let us in a little when they say goodbye to each other...

One thing I feel certain of is they all love each other.

From one to another to another....

It is part of my respect for each of them and the most in question Stone patting Ed on the back the night he sang and it was the 10 year anniversary of Roskillde (sorry???) I nearly cried.

You can tell he has some stuff to say.

I don't think he will be mean about stuff, but it sure seems like there are cool stories we haven't heard.

I doubt we'll see a movie about Pearl Jam. Nirvana would be the most likely movie from the Seattle scene. Pearl Jam's story is not that compelling for a movie.

I thought Stone and Mike were the best interviews in the PJ20 documentary. I wish we could see more of their interviews. Stone was especially honest.

Not sure I agree with you.

I'm curious though why you think Nirvana would be of interest?

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good movie... Just curious.

I can agree with that too. Jeff has a major edge about him. It seems like he is ready to fist fight at any moment, with anyone.

    I like his angst!

Well, the Doors have the leader singer who fought his demons and his demons eventually killed him. If Jim Morrisson had lived and they spent the next 15 years putting an album out every three years, doing 25 live shows a year, and not making any news regarding drunk/high behavior would you expect a movie to have been made of them, or for them to have the mythic legacy they have now? The Doors had the VH1 Behind the Music story that makes movies interesting. Nirvana (I am not really a fan and only have two live releases) has that drug addicted, troubled lead singer who after experiencing the heights of fame killed himself. Ther is a compelling story and an interest for what drove this person to make the decision he made.

I don't know, I guess Pearl Jam has a cool story, but I just think they made too many right decisions that would lead to a movie without many peaks and valleys. They had a meteoric rise to fame, and then past that they pulled back and have been on cruise control for 15 years. What is the driving force behind the movie you suggest? What would the story line be?

PJ20 didn't have much from the last 10 years of their career (or last 15 without Roskilde) because there is no compelling story line there other than reaping the benefits of their decisions made in the first 5 years.

    Excellent explanation and deep thoughts.

I wonder then if the Rolling Stones, Bruce or the like will be immortalized on film either?

    Thanks for your post.

I wondered about that too. If the STones (or U2, Bruce, Zeppelin, etc...) have not had a movie yet, would Pearl Jam? Off the top of my head I can't think of too many movies made about bands, so that is why I can't say that it is likely Pearl Jam will have a movie about them.
