Just got back to Saskatchewan early this afternoon, and I'm ready to fly out again! I wish! This was the 3rd and 4th times I have seen them since September/05 in Saskatoon. It took me 14 years to finally see them and now I can't get enough. Thank god for airmiles. Each show has been very special in it's own way. Loved the new stuff live, every single song. the new lighting was pretty cool as well. The boys were full of energy, Mike was crazy, fucking awesome, period! Thanks Toronto, my wife and I had a blast!
14 year wait, what a campfire!

I ended up 2nd row in front of Mike. The show was UNFRIGGIN BELIEVABLE. I was lucky enought to take a slug off of Eddie's wine. The wine was hot and shaken up and foamy. It was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in my entire life. Got guitar picks from Stone and Mike over the course of the 2 night run. The guy in front of me got the setlist.
Drove home from TO to Rochester in a fog! Last night is one of my favorite performances by any band ever!
I have a lot of pics that I will try to post ASAP.
Here is one from 5/9 though....
WTF...corey and trevor have left the TPB...damn. that sucks
thanks to sharptoe for posting those awesome pictures...i love the one of the mural/painting of the pearl jam/maple leaf logo on the floor just outside of the acc...great shot!! that was so kool who did that...i wonder who did it...if it was the acc or the promoter or?? regardless, that was very very cool
i hope someone posts a link of the poster for this show cause everyone needs to check it out. totally awesome
i still can't get over the amount of fun that was had by all. the band was surely having a great time and it's probably because we were having such a great time

BEST BAND EVER
I think it's a local artist who does that TM painting out front...it was there last time too back in Sept. By the looks of it, he just puts tape over the TM and wrote Pearl Jam over it..but yah it is pretty cool.
Awesome show. They repeated a few more songs from the first night than I was anticipating but it was a great show.
What surprised me most was the collective "ugh" I could hear on the floor when they started playing Even Flow for the 50 millionth time. You have to figure at least 50% of the crowd was there to hear it the night before. I always groan when they start playing it but it was hilarious to hear it in stereo. At least I'm not the only one that is annoyed with it.
I loved hearing "Life Wasted Reprise." I never expected to hear that song except maybe as a tag. "You Are" and "Go" were awesome with the lasers. I really enjoyed the new lights and I appreciate that Pearl Jam would invest their hard earned money enhancing our concert experience. It was nice to have something to look at since our seats were on the floor and I am very short. I very rarely got to see anyone onstage.
I also didn't appreciate that while people can bring in cameras and block my view most of the time taking pictures or recording half the show I could not bring in my binoculars to see better. According to security there it is a Pearl Jam rule that we couldn't have binoculars because someone was winging theirs around at a show and hit someone. Which is funny since they didn't take them from us the night before and I have never hear that was a rule. Meanwhile my binoculars have no strap and I could not wing them around. I pointed this obvious fact out but all security could say is "It's not my call". I would like to know why that couldn't have been posted with the camera policies or have been told to us when we picked up our tickets? Why was it only enforced the second night? I also would like to know why someone couldn't just as easily twirl their camera around and hit people in the head. I'd really like an official answer on that since it was a big bummer before an otherwise fun filled show and an inconvienience afterwards.

I'm with you - if people aren't following the mood of the band, you totally miss when the "magic" happens.
I've been to a few shows where one of the guys is sick and I think,"Oh God, this is going to be rough". Somewhere, out of nowhere, during a song, you feel the mood change and suddenly they have turned it around. Like everyone has watch LATG, name the song when you know the band knows it's going to be special. I think we all can.
Or when we know the setlist changes - the band senses energy, good or bad, and it makes or breaks a show.
We're still making records for people who listen to it all the way through, eyes closed, in that space.

Haha -- strangely I was at the "sick" show in St Paul too. The only thing that I'm off about the great 2nd night in Toronto is that they were going to play Comatose and Gone for sure until the energy of the place took over. I would have liked to have seen those songs played. But it really was something special to be there on Wednesday.

What a show.
After two solid Pearl Jam days I am left with a strange feeling.
They were incredible, and went beyond my expectations. Night one was superb, and night two was loose and wild with an incredible intimacy. I felt like I was in a really small venue during night two. They really did shrink the ACC. I couldn't think about anything until the next day. Then I get this strange mixture of feelings. Elated that I just witnessed something historic, Sad that is is over, Content and at complete peace with the world, and a sense of loss that my "friends" have gone away. Such a huge buildup for months and the new album and the SNL and Letterman etc, and then off it goes into the horizon...
I must of course thank the band and crew
Listening to the new CD after seeing them play the songs changes it forever and it doubled in goodness overnight.

I agree 100% The Even Flow on Wednesday was the best Ive seen. The energy and the band it was like all of it was rehearsed, everybody was just in tune with eachother. Mike fucking OWWWNED that solo and then Ed didnt even sing the last verse he let us audience members take it home.
I turned to my buddy [who I go to all my PJ shows with, and we have both been die-hards since 'Ten', and we are both on the 'its only worth it for mike' list] and we were both in awe. I said "I finally 'got' Evenflow, WOW!!" he said "Yeah Wow, thats was amazing, I think thats my new favourite song"
I was only at the first T.O show and after seeing the setlist for the 2nd I'm kicking myself for not going to the 2nd one..oh well..
Night 1 was still awesome for me. Was my 7th PJ show but must say Ottawa of last year is stil my fav...but who am I kidding..all PJ shows are still awesome.
Highlight songs for me was Present tense and by far Garden..amazing..
Might be going to Pittsburgh in June for another PJ show and going to see Wolfmother this month in Montreal... good summer of concerts..
whoever hasn't heard of Wolfmother...I suggest to buy the cd..awesome new stuff...a mix of Sabbath and Zeppelin
Did you see that Wolfmother is opening for them for a few European shows (well, at least according to the WM website)!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I can't wait to hear the boot. I know that it can never be like being in the room, but I hope that the boot does this show justice.

People have attended far too many Pearl Jam shows if they go 'Ugh' when PJ starts to play a song. How disrespectful and ungreatful. Some Pearl Jam fans are spoiled brats who have forgotten how good they really have it. McCready absolutely rips it up each and every single time he plays Evenflow. It's HIS song. The fact that he still enjoys playing it so much after 15 years shows how much it means to him. Pearl Jam fans should be thankful that they get to see a band that still LOVES to play and are passionate when they're on stage, because many bands lose that - their performances become mechanical and stiff. It's songs like Evenflow, Jeremy, Alive, and Black that got most of us into Pearl Jam in the first place. Listen. Re-live your youth. Enjoy!

I absolutely agree! That night was crazy! Mike is one bad ass mutha fucker! He can play Evenflow twice a night if he really wants to.
Wednesday was an incredible experience. I can't wait to re-live it!!
To whoever said that PJ was going to play Comatose and Gone, were those songs on the set list but crossed off?
No time to be void or save up on life. You got to spend it all.
I have now been to 15 shows. Night 2 at Toronto ended up being the best one
The songs played at the beginning were played with absoloute intensity. Severed Hand has only been played live 5-6 times, but already the crowd knows to pump their fists with Eddie's "Yeah"!! Also, Even Flow's solo was insane. Ed went over and started to smoke,a dn drink, while Mike just went nuts. Behind the head, all over the stage. It was crazy. Then Ed came over to the front of the stage and got the crowd to sing the rest of the song.
Then Ed intrdouces I am mine by saying he doesn't remember what CD it was from.
The improv was a slow building one, with Ed on guitar and Matt's drums following along. Many chants of "I don't wanna go...from Toronto". THis lasted a minute or so, before going straight into Whipping.
You Are had a false start, and then when they did get it going, Ed screwed up the words.
I got Id, was introduced as a song "written by a Canadian Patriot...Neil Young. It's called I got Shit". After this, Ed says I have to tell you a secret, just between you and me, we won't put this on the boot. He goes on to say, that last song goes like this (and starts to re-sing the chorus of I got Shit), and then he says it kind of sounds like this...Then he starts to sing Cinnamon Girl.
Wasted Reprise as a Encore opener is so effective. A longer Organ Solo, and the crowd just going nuts. They went straight into man of the hour. This one was intense, and a final verse was sung with a pause between every word "This - is -only - bye - for -now". I took it as meaning that they'll make it back to Toronto sometime.
A fun moment was Ed taping a birthday message to Sean (AIC) which he was going to send to him in Portugal 2 days later.
Encore 2 started with another improv, relating to the first one. Instead of "Don't want to go" it was "come with us"...Toronto
Crazy Mary had the longest Mike/Boom jam I have ever heard. High fives at the end.
It seemed that Ed didn't want this night to end. Fuckin' Up, Indifference and then Ledbetter. At the beginning of YL, Ed was lying down. Stone came over and said something to him, and Ed was laughing the whole way through the song. At the End, ed was lying down during Mike's final solo, which started to cut into Beast of Burden. Ed got up and started to sing along.
At the end, the six guys stood in a line, arms locked and gave a bow.
Haha -- strangely I was at the "sick" show in St Paul too. I saw the setlist somewhere(can't remember where) comatose and gone were not on it at all, though it had red mosquito beside dissident(as in the band picked one of the two) and the the second encore had last exit/go/black circle as the first song. and there was a second pick between two song slot in which the band played both, I believe.
I think what he was trying to say, is that because gone and comatose were not played the night before they would be played the next night. I thought the same thing and thought I'd also here army reserve.

I was also surprised that we didn't get as many new songs as they did the night before, and they were all songs that were played the night before (with Wasted Reprise being the only exception, I believe). I didn't mind one bit, though. Wednesday night was incredible. It was a great mix of songs.
Although ... after seeing that list Red Mosquito would have been real nice. Great song! I'm so happy they went with both Whipping and Corduroy! They were both such high energy songs!

That's a dumb question. Yeah I heard Evenflow. How else can I hear half the crowd behind me groan that they are playing it yet again!?! When your band can play well over 200 songs you shouldn't have to do a particular song almost every show for the rest of your career. Evenflow is the same every concert except for Mikes solo and it's really the only part of the song I like anymore. I won't even listen to it on the radio. Heck they have reworked songs they hardly play why don't they rework this tired song? I guess then no one would have time for a bathroom/beer break cause that's what the song is to MANY fans now.
Sorry but the crowd was already way more pumped up on night 2 than on night 1. The whole crowd was doing the wave before Pearl Jam even went on. That didn't happen night one. Also way before Evenflow Ed even said that the crowd was "better that last night". So did you hear and see the show I was at because it sound like you are talking about Toronto last year?
The reason the main stream is thought of as a stream is because it's so shallow. -George Carlin-
was anyone sitting in the section where some guy was pissing?? ahah!! my friend told me these 2 people got moved to her section cuz there was some crazy drunk guy in theirs that just started peeing right there in the row.. i think it was on some usher lady's shoes too, and she was yelling and swearing at him.. hahah!! oh man thats too funny.. and sick!! crazies!
Awesome show! Both nights were great, but when Eddie said early on in the night that we already topped the crowd from the night before, he wasn't bullshitting. It was so cool to see everyone so into it. We sang along to everything - Eddie could barely even get in there. And the band just seemed to get such a high from it all.
BTW, after Eddie fell off the fixture (I think it was a light fixture, not speakers), I could just see his hands waving to the music like Mike had him in some kind of trance. It's so cool to see him still able to get into the music so much.
Like it was said earlier, the setlist was good but that's not what made it special, it's HOW it all went down. I felt honered to be a part of that crowd.
I met some people before the show too as I waited in line to buy a poster and ltd ed hoodie from the booth outside the gates. It's always so cool hanging out with PJ fans. One guy even spotted me $5 because they were only taking cash at the booth and I was just short (if you're reading this, thanks again dude).
Also, my 10C seats were better for the 2nd show.
I love PJ, you guys all rock!
"It was Luke's fault" (Ed after stumbling on Soon Forget at Kitchener '05)

Hahaha. You are right. It was last year I was thinking of. You are so learned. Maybe it was just me, but I didn't see a rush to the bathroom when Evenflow came on. Actually, when the house lights came on at the end of Evenflow, everybody in the building was going crazy. I guess they all turned their IPODS onto Leash simultaneously. I know that's what the "real" fans did because Evenflow is so tired. Awesome.
I agree that the crowd was better on night 2 but Pearl Jam were also WAY more into it on night 2. They sounded great on night one, but the intensity was not there.

Interesting. I figured that Comatose and Gone were locks for night 2. I didn't see the setlist, but it makes sense that they would play those 2 after not playing them on night 1. What is also interesting is that the setlist is pretty much the same as what we heard. I figured for sure that the setlist changed mid-show because the energy in the building was so immense. Thanks for the info and setlist pic.

Some are better than others, and I haven't posted everything because I'm on dialup. I have short video clips to post, but that'll probably be next week.
Wednesday was my fifth show. They're all great, of course - and very different. The best vibe from a show I ever got was September 19th's Toronto show last year, but Wednesday night came very close to that feeling. The band and the crowd fed off each other much more - or at least it felt that way to me.
Someone else mentioned it, and it's not necessarily bad...but I was a bit surprised by the amount of overlap in the sets between the two shows. I'm not complaining - just observing.
My friend and I both were really looking forward to hearing Army Reserve and/or Gone on the second night, and figured the chances were pretty high given the first night's selection of new songs.
It was incredible to hear Garden live for the first time (I like the intro). A lot of jukeboxes around here have only Ten if they have any Pearl Jam at all, and Garden is always one of my selections.

Thats how good Eflow was on night 2!!
Did you see that Wolfmother is opening for them for a few European shows (well, at least according to the WM website)!
5/4/06, Letterman Aftershow
6/1/06, East Rutherford
6/3/06, East Rutherford
6/25/08, MSG II
I couldn't have said it better myself. I can't wait to hear the boot. I know that it can never be like being in the room, but I hope that the boot does this show justice.
what?? that song is the best!! i LOVED it both nights and never want them to stop playing it!!
Oh yeah ? sweet !...
they have a wicked sound...big time influenced by Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin...you can't go wrong with that mix !
It was a very special night.
Here's a link to the setlist

All in all, an excellent two nights.
