  • Spectacular!!
My spot on the floor was worse than Monday night and i couldn't see the stage thanks to a heap of tall boys, but WOW!!!! i didn't care because the whole show - and especially the crowd energy & participation - was incredible. I danced, sung & carried on the whole time, sweating a lot more than the previous night (which must be some kind of indicator!?).
From where I was, the noise and crowd singing for most of the 2nd half of Alive was so loud, I couldn't hear Ed singing!! (or maybe he actually did stop!! don't know).

There were so many highlights, but I think my fav was Crazy Mary.
No L O I T E R I N G allowed...was brilliant. There weren't many around me who sang the song - or probably even knew it - but my voice was at full flight! Indifference was a perfect end.
And then all 6 of them joining for a bow! (correct me if i'm wrong, but they didn't do that Mon night?)

I was so pumped, I started getting a shit headache after the first couple of songs, but I would have had to be about to die to leave & scrounge a panadol. Hence my head was still pumping until i got home!!
And how hard was it settle down and fall asleep?? *phew*
Can't wait for tomorrow night, I hope it's as good or better!!

I LOVE PEARL JAM FANS :D

what a show! but before i tell yous about it ill tell yous about our interesting afternoon. we (me and led_zep) wanted to try meet the band after or before soundcheck so we walked to rod laver arena, and were looking for a way to get into the restricted carpark area where the bands vans rock up and leave to pick them up and drop them off. after circling the arena and looking for places we somehow found a way in through a carpark then a garbage area, we got in and sat down on the stairs pretending we were roadies or something on a break, and waited for the band to come out or arrive. we were heaps nervous cause we were in a restricted area where everyone had passes on their necks, but we didnt have any pearl jam clothes visible and pretended we were chilling. on the way there we saw lead singer and a roadie from kings of leon sitting on the grass outside having a joint haha. think they didnt want to be disturbed tho. anyway once we were in we waited ages but nothing. led zep goes fuck it lets go in the building through one of the administration doors that caterers and other ppl were going in and coming out of. this was a massive risk going into the arena but we did it. we walked around these hallways under the arena,we prob passed pearl jams change room or chill out room or something and didnt know, we found nothing tho so we took an elevator up a level which was the arena level, we somehow made our way in to around outside the arena where all the bars and merch stands are we couldnt believe it. there was no soundcheck by then. we walked past security ppl once or twice and confidently looked like we belong and they said nothing haha. we were shitting ourselves though. anway we went back outside and waited more. i think a security guard overheard led zep talking about last nights show which gave it away we were fans and he asked us we said yes and hi nicely said we couldnt be in there. at least he was casual about it and didnt kick us out or grab us or anything. prob cause he was a pj security not rod laver security as he had an american accent.

Missed out on Melbourne1 but from what people are writing here, Melbourne2 was superior anyways.

Ed certainly thought so, proclaiming us the best crowd in Australia so far (Woop-woop!)

I predicted Go would open and the whole place exploded. I was lower level straight in front, had a really nice view of everything going on onstage.

I thought Given to Fly, Lukin and Not for You were the highlights, and Leash was intense! I think we showed Ed that yes, we do indeed remember that song.

How about the reflecting of light off the guitar? That was so freaking cool.

A few of the people I was there with were at their first PJ shows and aren't massive fans so they asked me after what a few songs were. To them, Low Light and Even Flow seemed to be popular choices. My guitar obsessed friend was in awe of Mike with the behind-the-head solo.

Anyways, I missed out on Yellow Ledbetter and Black, hopefully get to see them on Thursday! I'm 3rd row baby! Keep an eye out for the guy in the Scottie Pippen basketball jersey... that's me...
Seriously, just drop the leash already!

Absolutely awesome shot of Jeff. Have saved it of course. Cannot believe that photo, is it the perspective in the photo or did Jeff really jump that high? Fit as a malley bull, that guy and the rest of them too. Glad everyone has had such a great time and there's no whingeing about the crowd. I couldn't keep still all night.
  • Glad you guys like the photo. Yeah, Jeff is just THAT high.... I was giddy as hell when I looked down and saw what I had captured. Mike and Ed add to the power of that pic....but Jeff's air is what made it.

  • ahh hey dude - yeah i would have remembered you, oh well...maybe we'll run into eachother on thursday night? are you going?....doing any other cities?

no i'm not going to any other shows (needed money for u2 and bdo), damn should have walked over and said hi. how stupid is the rule that you can't bring any alcohol into the arena? had to skull my drink so i could see kings of leon....LOL.
    The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

    Best show so far
We got lots of gifts from the guys that night, they treated us diehards good...
Had a great rear view lower Mike's side, and knew everything that was going to happen next watching them come in and out of the backstage. Got my section to stand up and get in on all the clapping and Yeahing... I think it was definately the best crowd so far since they were at least all standing even up at the wings, although I was the only one spelling l-o-i-t-e-r-i-n-g in my area... I can't wait to see what tonight's show will bring, finally some floor tickets for a change, if anyone wants to envite me up a few rows from 17, give me a shought! :)
  • I was at this show and have a review ready to go on my puter at home, just have to add some links to my photos. Got something more important at the moment though......... does anyone have a spare ticket for tonight? That they don't want 200 bucks for like all the ebay dudes. Please please please. Long time Jam fan who left tickets a bit late. Cheers. PM me or my mob is 0403657334.

I know what you mean. I had seats in the lower section 8 rows from the front right near Stone's side of the stage on Monday night which rocked (see my crappy photos here:http://forums.pearljam.com/showpost.php?p=3907664&postcount=108).

Had seats in the upper section on Mike's side Tuesday night, and even though they weren't as good still had a wicked night.

Upper section tonight as well, but I'm just glad to be going.

Only problem is my knees are aching from hitting the seat in front of me due to jumping around to much. Well worth it though ;)

    :)
  • I dont usually post on these things but had a such great time last night felt the need. Share my expierience. I've seen them in Melbourne at least once every tour they have done here. But this was by far the best yet.
K so getting there. Caught the train up and there was even people like pumped on the train. One dude sitting a couple rows up from me yells out "Who's going to Pearl Jam tonight?" at the top of his lungs to the embarrasment of his mates. I immediately put my hand up and to my surprise like half the carridge did. We all cheered, I knew I was in for a good night.
I get to the security pat down thing and I've got my iriver h340 in my pocket. The guys like whats that so I pull it out and show him and tell him it's my iriver. His just hassling the hell outta me, "why do you need that for?" I'm like cause I caught the train I like to listen to it. And I know it can be used as a recording device with the appropriate mics but I wasnt doing that. And why would I when we can get sbd's here. So after like 5 minutes of questions pretty much just going over the same thing over and over. He let's me go. As I'm walking off I hear the security lady behind me say to 2 people "These tickets were for last night" the women she was talking to replies "Oh no we totally screwed up" as she looked at her friend. I had a chuckle to myself and proceeded in thinking they were trying to pull a scam or really were just idiots. lol
I had a kick arse seat front row lower section right on the isle closest to the stage. Pretty much directly in line with the front row on the floor but on the front row in the lower section. :D The security sucked plan and simple. I got hassled for having my jacket on the rail in front of me. For putting my feet in the isle. I'm at the front for fudge shake where am I gonna go. Morons. Security issues aside absolutely brilliant night. Won't carp on about the show everyone has summed it up. Lots of crowd paticipation. I was singing and rocking out to every tune. Highlights: Matt's drum solo, Elderly Woman, every other song they played, eddie throwing his broken tamborine to a guy in a wheel chair in front of stage during Baba O'Riley, When Eddie dedicated Big Wave to the surfer, I looked over and the surfer guy was asleep. lol Eddies bottle of wine getting passed around amongst the front row, Eddie looking at me and giving the peace sign. :)
The funniest bit for me was during Indifference. The guys in the row behind me had been coming down to the front of the isle all night and getting told by the knobs to go back to their chair. But it was the last song so who cares, and I guess they knew Eddie had their backs from the night before incident. So theirs 3 knobs on the ground telling them to go back to their chair and one female comes down the isle to deal with 3 drunken jubulent blokes. They were just ignoring everything she said and kept singing along as was I. lol After a minute or so of her getting no response everyone around us is just yelling at her to leave them alone it's the last song. A older knob comes along and is getting the exact same response, now theirs 2 of them doing absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. During the chorus one of the guys is singing "how much difference does it make" with the added "It's the last song" in the security peoples faces. I was in stitches. Didnt get to sleep till 6 this morning.
Here's some photos I took, I found out my camera doesn't work to well in low light situations last night. But some turned out kinda alright.

So to sum up, great night, great set. Shit security. :)
  • thankyou for posting those photos negatron, my cousin and i are in a lot of them!

we're in the front row, hes in the yellow shirt and im in the wheelchair with the brown shirt on. the guy in the wheelchair that got the tamborine was sitting right next to me. that was the greatest moment of my life during Alive and baba when ed came and stood up on the speakers. during alive he was looking right at me as i was singing along. then he did the peace sign to me and the other disabled guy. ill never forget that as long as i live.

thanx once again for putting the pics up!
