  • A VERY nice setlist indeed
Pearl Jam - London Astoria 20/4/06....One hell of a night :)

    Reading 2006 - WOOOOW!!!!!

    Paris 2006 - Fucking amazing

    Wembley 2007 :D
  • just arrived back at the hotel after melb2. a way better crowd response and a better vibe than last night.

again ed let the crowd sing the entire first verse and chorus of betterman.
brain of j, glorified g, lowlight, leash and lukin -> not for you were the highlights for me.

thumbing made its first appearnce for the tour. i havent usually been a great fan of this track but tonight somthing clicked and it was really solid.

wash was on the encore setlist but it was replaced with leash. the boys in section 22 had their same massive "drop the leash" sign from 2003. maybe this was the reason for the change of the set? i dunno but whatever it was, leash was fucken sensational. ed introduced it as "a song off our second record... started playing it again at the start of this tour. dont know if you remember it but we'll find out".

for baba tonight, ed has realised that the sing along just unfortunately doesnt work in oz cos not enough people listen to boots! he sang the "dont cry for me...wasteland" part.

bring on melb3. cant wait. gonna be an awesome show. after seeing the encore set from tonight, im hoping for a wash opener.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

  • Just got back to Ballarat from Melb 2. I had a fucken sensational night. We had seats in row N dead center. Row N was the last row of the front section. Didnt take me long to rush up the front for KOL and boy am i glad I did as Ed came out for Slow Night, So Long, it was awesome. Bit disappointed the lads didnt finish with Trani but i guess we already heard that at Syd 1 and Melb 1. They played a rockin set again, if only Joe's Head.....if only :)

PJ came on about 8:50 and for tonite i predicted Long Road may open (i had predicted both Release and Wasted Reprise/Life Wasted for Syd 1 and Melb 1) so i was going for the trifecta but it wasnt to be. The lads ripped into Go and it was on. We were off our feet jumping and waving and yelling.

The crowd tonite was more active than last nite. Looked around a bit and not too many people were sitting. The row of seats on the next block behind me had some girls and blokes dancing in the aisle, security kept at them but they kept going, security gave up in the end.

Highlights for me were Last Exit, Go, Low Light, Not For You, Glorified G, Porch, Crazy Mary, Last Kiss, Blood and Leash.....and every other bloody song for that matter.

Well 2 nights of singing my guts out, I am ruined. Time for some sleep and recovery for Melb 3. Look forward to it. Hoping the boys rip out Dissident, so fingers crossed.

    See you all there!!
  • ...what a night. i think when we think about the nights of pearl jam that are just fucken perfect - tonight was one of them.

setlist was unbelievable, the intensity of the crowd was brilliant, and to make it just the night of nights, met eddie out the back as they were driving out - he got out and spoke to the ten of us who were there for a couple minutes.

    perfect night.

    melbourne 3 - 44 hours away.
  • speechless. fucking. speechless.

one out of the box. 7th row mike, and i have never got so much ed love in my life. it felt like me and buff (auslistener1) were singing the whole of porch and leash, just with ed... just an amazing night. a very very good crowd. muuuuch better than last night.

low light. brain of j. glorified g. i have nothing to say.

well done to everyone - best show so far along with brisbane 1.

Good set. The Yield kids must be going nuts over this one.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
  • Totally fresh set-list...tons of great stuff.

Stand-outs to me were Lukin-->Not For You; the slow opening of Porch, Baba, Indifference, etc.

Posted some pics on my mini-site. We didn't have super seats, so the pics aren't super great.....BUT, I got one amazing action shot of Jeff that you must check out!

    Enjoy!

well i did not expect that!

amazing setlist, amazing crowd. the singing was excellent, and the band were really feeding off of the energy. tonight's baba was redemption for sydney 2!

    yield extravaganza! :D

i was 2nd row directly in front of ed, and he saw me going off, and did this hilarious crazy man face at me while singing evolution.

the band was on fire, as always, but tonight was special. ed called it the best crowd of the Oz tour so far, and while that's debatable (brisbane 1 I hear you say), I was really heartened by the crowd's involvement.

finally, i got a friggin matt chant started. thank god for that. that even flow drum solo is out of this world.

leash was perfect. porch had such a fantastic jam and then great crowd involvement with the "hey, hey, hey" to lead into the final chorus. alive was superb, and it was very moving to see pretty much the whole crowd fist pumping.

ed had tears in his eyes towards the end of indifference, and it seemed like he was choking up and had trouble singing. don't know if it was just stuff weighing on his mind or he was moved by the crowd. either way, magical night.

see all of you thursday. let's bring it home!

do you mean the first appearance on the australian leg? becasue it's been played once in the U.S and twice in europe on this tour.

but anyway - great setlist. happy for all the people there. glorified, brain-j, blood (!!!), big wave, leash... i was really excited to see these songs were played.

I am absolutely stoked, and a bruised wreck to boot! After seeing Ed on stage with KOL I was in a great mood for another superb night and the band didnt disappoint. The crowd where I was (lower row 0 sectioj 19) stood up but they barely moved, I otoh, couldnt keep still all night and I rocked myself silly. The boys are as tight as they can possibly be and produced another awesome setlist. Great surprises - Brain of J, Glorified G, Leash, Blood and Indifference. Well they were for me anyway cos I'd never heard any of these songs live. I have now heard almost the entire Avocado catalogue, with the exception of Unemployable and Parachutes. Wonder if these will be played tomorrow night? It was great to see the way the boys GET INTO their music. Stone, for instance, is really into it this tour, seemingly a fair bit more than last tour. I'm really enjoying the boys with the added advantage of the big screens this time round, they are super fit (wish I had their energy and athletisism). I know Mike for one has a PT but do the others?

I hope everyone was happy with Leash!!!! One of my favourites was Blood, really got into this song big time. Porch was absolutely magnificent with Mike's solo, sublime stuff!!! I cannot rave on enough about this band. I pity the people who cannot or will not get into them. They dont know what they're missing. Their choice, but also their funeral. Saw a number of signs this time, one had Hitchhiker up the top of it, would love to hear this live! Hope there's some more love for Riot Act tomorrow night.

Yes Brad I heard the Matt chant loud and clear! And Judd, glad to see you happy without complaint! Hopefully see you guys after the after party, looking forward to it.
  • Went to bed smiling, woke up smiling - Holy Shit what a night!

Such an awesome set list, I still can't believe it. The crowd was much better tonight (yes, up there with Brissy 1 but I think we have more to give people!)

Highlights for me were : Gone (been hanging out to hear this live), Not For You (Modern Girl) EXCELLENT!!!!!! Pulled out Glorified G WTF!!! and then into PORCH, just brilliant :)
Encores were nothing short of MAGNIFICENT - Thumbing My Way - so nice, CRAZY MARY - Fuck YEAH!!!!! I was so hoping to hear this - Thankyou x
2nd Encore BLEW MY MIND - thought I must be dreaming.....BLOOD OMG! this was insane followed up by LEASH into Baba and an Indifference finish....along with Ed I was close to tears myself!

The band were tight and giving it everything they had, could see them all smiling and having a great time *overflowing with LOVE for this band*

I am left feeling SO excited for Thursday and given I have work that day, man is the day going to drag on.

A quick shout out to all the peeps I have met since Monday (Brad - go the Matt chant my friend!, Kristy, Dan, Brendan, Danielle, Kylie and all the rest) it makes me so proud to be an Aussie Pearl Jam fan when you meet people that love the band as much as I do and you are all so friendly and easy going it's like we've know each other for years....THANKS for making this tour ROCK!

Bring on THURSDAY.....the anticipation may KILL me!!! It's going to be awesome to say the very least!!

  • Hey Auslistener I saw you last night, wasen't sure if you would remember me though. I had an awesome night and it was simply Pearl Jam and its very best. Kings of Leon really set the scene although I must admit I was a bit sceptical of them beforehand. I wouldn't rush out and buy one of their albums but they were very impressive. When Ed came out and played their very last song the crowd just went nuts.

It was fantastic to see Ed having a blast with those tamborines, brought such a smile to my face. I was singing along to just about every song (well the majority haven't nailed most of the newer stuff yet) and to hear songs like "Leash" and "Glorified G" was such a welcome surprise. Ed wasen't as political last night which to be honest was a welcome change, he and the rest of the band simply were having a great time. He stated that we were the best crowd of the Australian tour so far and judging from last night I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case.

Even Flow was just fantastic in my book, easily the highlight of the night which is saying a lot. Mike doing the solo behind his head what a sight! Matt going crazy on those drums and the 10 clubbers started a bit of a "Matt Matt" chant after that. To hear "Baba O'Reilly and "Crazy Mary" was also a highlight. It was simply an awesome night, if U2 is any better on Saturday then it will be jaw-dropping.

Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?
  • Sounds unbelievably spectacular!!!! My brother was there and his only words were - Awesome in the true sense of the word. I am so enviouse - I knew I should have gone last night. I had a small window of oportunity and missed it....things just didn't go my way :( Oh Well, Bring on Thursday Melb 3 ..... CAN'T WAIT - Hope it tops em all!
  • tonights show was da bomb although they didnt play corduroy for the first time in australia.but i particularly liked the stint where eddie holds his guitar with both hands above his head and did the reflection thinghy.icredible show!

Haha. Zero complaints last night. Like Brendan said - one of those perfect nights. What will come out of Melbourne 3?!

  • thankyou thankyou Pearl Jam.

Monday rocked with all the hits and rocking out songs, but last nite was much better. the difference was diversity and more crowd involvement.
did not expect Go as the opener, thought they'd open with a slow one, but they came out with a blast. made me so happy hearing Brain of J and others like Glorified G, Porch, Big Wave, WWS, Blood and Leash. Indifference was emotional cos Ed almost lost it and his voice was goin.

Not sure what happened before Low Light, Ed was talkin and then suddenly they went into it catchin Ed off guard as high scrambled to look at the setlist it seemed.
Other notes: the crowd went absolutely off for Mike and Matt durin Even Flow.
After Severed Hand Ed said this was a continuation of night one and sort of encore 3, which just set the tone for the evening.

i was sorry for my mate who came cos he really wanted to see Comatose and RVM which were played the other nite so wasnt expectin to hear it for the 2nd show.
Cant wait till Thursday, it will be special. Hope really to hear WASH open!!

ahh hey dude - yeah i would have remembered you, oh well...maybe we'll run into eachother on thursday night? are you going?....doing any other cities?
  • Great show!!

shitty seats up the back but it gives you a great perspective, and people were up and standing and singing all the way back of the arena.

    Highlights:
DEFINITELY THE END OF CRAZY MARY- boom and mike playing off each other and it was a monstrous jam. Mike was on fire all night, that even flow solo was OUTSTOUNDING, it didn't seem like a generic improv, he took it up a whole level. And then Matt took over and again was fantastic.
MIKE was the star that night, and i could actually HEAR his guitar this time (cf. mel 1).

And 3 openers in a row to kick it off!! intense. I knew it was on when they started Brain of J

when i saw the setlist this morning i was sooooo pissed off i wasn't there ... especially seeing that Second Encore! Hubby and I were at Melbourne 1 and had to fly back home first thing yesterday morning so he could get to class for his studies ... He copped an earful this morning because of it!!! He at least had the grace to apologise for it!

I'm just hoping the boys replicate that second encore for either Adelaide or Perth! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!

what a show! but before i tell yous about it ill tell yous about our interesting afternoon. we (me and led_zep) wanted to try meet the band after or before soundcheck so we walked to rod laver arena, and were looking for a way to get into the restricted carpark area where the bands vans rock up and leave to pick them up and drop them off. after circling the arena and looking for places we somehow found a way in through a carpark then a garbage area, we got in and sat down on the stairs pretending we were roadies or something on a break, and waited for the band to come out or arrive. we were heaps nervous cause we were in a restricted area where everyone had passes on their necks, but we didnt have any pearl jam clothes visible and pretended we were chilling. on the way there we saw lead singer and a roadie from kings of leon sitting on the grass outside having a joint haha. think they didnt want to be disturbed tho. anyway once we were in we waited ages but nothing. led zep goes fuck it lets go in the building through one of the administration doors that caterers and other ppl were going in and coming out of. this was a massive risk going into the arena but we did it. we walked around these hallways under the arena,we prob passed pearl jams change room or chill out room or something and didnt know, we found nothing tho so we took an elevator up a level which was the arena level, we somehow made our way in to around outside the arena where all the bars and merch stands are we couldnt believe it. there was no soundcheck by then. we walked past security ppl once or twice and confidently looked like we belong and they said nothing haha. we were shitting ourselves though. anway we went back outside and waited more. i think a security guard overheard led zep talking about last nights show which gave it away we were fans and he asked us we said yes and hi nicely said we couldnt be in there. at least he was casual about it and didnt kick us out or grab us or anything. prob cause he was a pj security not rod laver security as he had an american accent.

anyway here was the setlist, didnt think they could top last night but i
    rekon they did.

Go, Last Exit, Brain Of J., World Wide Suicide, Given To Fly, Severed
Hand, Low Light, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Gone,
Do The Evolution, Even Flow, Lukin, Not For You / (Modern Girl), Life
Wasted, Better Man, Glorified G, Porch
1st Encore: Thumbing My Way, Last Kiss, Crazy Mary, Alive
2nd Encore: Big Wave, Blood, Leash, Baba O'Riley, Indifference

band were really into it again, crowd was suprisingly more rockin than
last night and the band were really feeding off of it. go was a awesome
opener and it just kept going from there. low light was the first awesome
highlight, then elderly woman which everyone sang along to, evolution
again was rockin most of the crowd jumping like crazy. evenflow and solo
was phenominal mike doing most of it behind his head, got a massive
applause at the end of it. glorified gun was a suprise as its heaps rare,
and porch was wicked at the end with eddie doing the intro himself nice
    and slow on the guitar.

thumbing my way was just eddie on acoustic and boom and was awesome i love that song, crazy mary was also heaps good, at the end mike and boom were next to eachother jamming, boom would play a little solo, them mike would copy it on guitar.

second encore blood was heaps hardcore, strobes and lights going
everywhere, leash, got a good response. then the houselights came on and baba oriley started the whole band was jumping around, i thought that would be the end and the band were starting get ready to go off and good old stone started the chords to indifference, and the rest of the band followed, the whole crowd sung the bit 'i will scream my lungs out..til it fills this room'

overall an awesome show set list wise and crowd wise, i think the band
really appreciated the crowd last night, at the end of indifference they
all lined up in a line facing the crowd and gave us all a bow

cant wait for thursday night now!
