It really depends on how close they signed it to the edge of the paper...
I have atleast 2 AP's on the wall that have the signature covered up cause it's so close to the edge... I find Ames and Methane studios are the worst for that... Emek and JH are usually the best at signing it somewhere it can be seen... Munk One is pretty good about it too... I wish Brad would start signing stuff in a nice bright metallic pen instead of that pencil... usually the pencil is so light you can barely see his signature...
I understand that it can be a little frustrating not being able to easily see the signature, but any half decent art school will teach you that the proper protocol for signing prints is to be done in pencil.
I wasn't at the show so there is no point to buy it.
And i used to feel the exact same way, and until this i only own posters from every show i've been to. However, i listened to this one live w/a bunch of people on here, so it provides me with fun memories.

This was the only show that was webcast live, so a whole bunch of us listened through an Argentinian radio station online as it happened.

Can you explain the reason behind this? I would have thought they would want to sign it in something that will last as long as the print but I didn't go to art school

Oddly enough I can't give you a definite reason. The most likely reason is because it is tradition and my info on the matter is coming straight from the British Museum. Also another thing to consider, graphite is NOT going to fade, sure you can erase it, but it wont disappear and wont damage or color the paper. Lastly the signature is meant to show that the artist approves the print and verifies it as their own original work, it is NOT meant to be a part of the work.
One last thing about pencil/graphite, take a look at how many sketches/drawings that are hundreds of years old and are still around, in un-faded condition. Hope this helps!
