i hate projects that go back 5 6 7 years...our data blew back then...fuck.
been there, done that. We once did a schedule like that and just for fun put pictures of fruit over the columns for each year. we had a clean copy of it too without the pictures, but my boss took the one with pictures instead when she took it to talk to the VP. she said he totally got it - "ok those years can't compare they are apples and oranges, but what's with the eggplant? oh, I get it"
we now refer to that as the infamous "fruit chart"
