I had a dream last night that they opened with Oceans. 15 years and 15 shows after asking Ed to play it, and I've never heard it. So I was slightly disappointed at Go... for about a second. Deep was a consolation, as the only other Ten song I've never heard live. And then... first encore... I never expected that... One of the highlights of any PJ show for me.

Plenty of hits tonight, but a couple of nice curveballs too. Great to get You Are, Unthought Known was stunning, Just Breathe was beyond beautiful and extremely emotional with Ed quite choked up. Why Go made a damn fine Daughter tag! That transition was phenomenal.

I got the feeling the band really didn't want to leave after Yellow Ledbetter and were begging for an excuse to play one more. Oh well...

Flew halfway around the world on a whim for this show, and it's been the perfect climax to an unforgettable week in Costa Rica. Thanks Mavi, for being such an incredible host. I just wish we were able to make Mexico too - the PJ appetite has been whetted again. Holding out for a Euro tour next year...

There was some serious drinking going on in the Alive line from sun up until it was time to enter.

The floor went ape shit for Go-->Animal--->Corduroy and I felt like it was 1996 again with people getting pulled out left and right. It was nap time on the floor for Deep. Grown men crying for Last Kiss. Ed made like he was going to use a speaker to jump over Jeff a few times and Jeff kinda jukes him and laughs it off but Ed mouthed that he was feeling it wad going for it with a cool kick and a smooth landing. A few gems in the setlist tonight but it was all about the GA experience for me.
    Oceans :)

At the end Ed introduces the band In Spanish ending with Me llamo is Eddie Vedder. I lol'd

  • Show was unreal. The band was on top of their game. Eddie and Mike were off their rockers....possibly with 3 days of surfing ahead of them b4 Mexico City....Mike jumping all over the place and Eddie smashing his mike stand and more. The crowd was into it...sort of ...at times .. correct me if I am off, but was expecting a bit more being the 1st show their country during the time between encores... but overall really good crowd considering they were out in full force all weekend leading up to the show and for the fact they did not sell any beer or alcohol in the stadium. As well, some mosh pits going... a bit hairy at times in the Alive GA section.... especially when some idiot lights flares in the middle of the crowd of the Alive section at the start of 'Do the Evolution'... was funny for a second... but scary!! Eddie seemed a bit shocked by it though. Didn't matter since the band was on and their excitement played thru. Great way to start the show with the 1st 3 songs and Oceans and Mother were incredible. Overall great show and looking forward to the finale in Mexico City!

I like how Oceans is showing up in more setlists, and not just as an opener. I hope this trend continues. Looks like it was a great show.

The stadium was full ? How many people were there ?
  • Costa Rica show....where should I start....picked up our tickets on Saturday and there was a ten club entrance banner hanging so I posted about if there was early entry for fan club.I was told in message board no early entry. When we arrived early sat.morning...5:30 a.m. to get in line we were told to stand in line with gram alive which is what ticket section we purchased but our tickets said gram VIP...and the security/ticket guy told us alive and VIP same line. After being in line till around 3:00PM we were told to go to vip line which turned out to be the ten club banner entrance that remarkably reappeared from the day before(wasn't up on Sunday a.m.)SO we change lines and then were told we needed our tenclub card and be on the "list"which supposedly we were not.so we had to go back in line again what a joke. The tenclub line got early entry what's up with that I thought there was no early entry....why vip tickets?A little disappointed by the entrance lines.....massive line cutting...and poor security....evident by the flares that were lit in alive section.People pulled out over the rail passed out extreme heat no water and the 3 1/2 hour wait till pearljam.People had no respect for peoples safety I've Ben to a lot of ga shows before hut this was just downright not a good experience. On a positive note the music was fabulous as always and pj put on a great performance for the fans....to bad the fans ruined it for others.

I cannot explain what this show meant to me... I cannot explain how happy/excited Iam today... How it hurts every single part of my body, but I was at the front row, in Mike's spot, I had the chance to get a pick, and every single punch I received on my back, knees and ribs were all worth it...

Thank you guys for this show, PLEASE COME BACK soon!!! I cannot wait another 20 years to see u again...

    I LOVE U PJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i will never forget that night, can´t belive it yet, i still dreaming.... pls guys.... we can't wait for another 20 years!!! come back soon.. CR is LOVE YOU!!!

PD: hope you enjoy the 10clubbers´ banner!
  • I'm going to try and let as much out here as I can...if I show up to work tomorrow still "high on Pearl Jam" my boss is going to kill me :?

It was my first show ever, I never thought in my dreams that they were going to perform here EVER!

I thought the songs they chose to start the show were incredible...I never thought they will start with such strength....loved it from beginning to end.

I won a raffle with the production company and actually got to get into the stadium first... I stood on the front row and noticed that the stage was too high and that I would not be able to actually see them (I'm VERY short) so I moved back a little...I regret it now since my other 10C friends got quite a few things I would have loved to experience, yet i don't really complain.

I was about 10 mts away from the stage next to the left fence..so I was actually able to both see the band perfectly (again height is not something God blessed me with) and actually breath.

Set list! Basically flawless! I cried few times, specially with Black and Oceans... Deep was not only a surprise but I truly enjoyed it. The downside...when I heard YL being played I got extremely excited, then I remembered that it was probably the last song... :(

I got psyched when I heard State of love and trust...it was back to the early 90's for me... :P

    I got a pick...that was exciting too.

Today I can't speak from all my screaming, I can't walk from sore feet, well my entire body is just messed up...I got bruises in my arms and scratches :P from being pushed towards the fence for 3 hours.

It was the best night in my entire life.

What I missed, or rather wish would've happen? Meet the band... :P I wanted to see them play Release, Parachutes, Amongst the waves and Breath...

Overall....i didn't know that living my dream night will make my body hurt so bad...hahahaha!
  • ooooohhhh!!! PJ IN COSTA RICA!!
    where to start?
Eddie coming out to sing with X, that was one of the best crowd reactions I ever seen!!!

The setlist, it was clearly intended to destroy the crowd vocal cords, and cause some heart attacks!!!

I have to admit, I never expected such a great setlist, not even for my FIRST PJ CONCERT, and not for their first (and sadly maybe unique) concert in CR!

They were great! I really felt like going back to the 90's , Eddie said it, they have 20 years playing bur they still YOUNG, his voice is the same as pink pop 92' and his attitude is the same, maybe a little bit more fatherly (when asking the crowd if we felt secure)

I am sorry for all those 10c members that didn't have credentials, or couldn't come first... The organization wasn't bad, you are just new in a country you don't know and wanted to be treated as a special one with some people that didn't care, you could have ask the cr 10c for more info.

For me it was amazing, as it was the first time I see security giving water to anyone who asked for it!!

CONCERT MORE THAN WHAT I COULD EXPECT. I am still dreaming my happiness continues and all I want to do now is having more tour dates so I can pick a location and just GO for it!!

Love PJ! and I have to thank CR 10c as they made this experience more special, cause when you have a fave band and you are alone, and then you find 60 or more people with your same taste and expectations EVERYTHING CHANGE, FOR THE BETTER!!!!

    Cheers 10clubbers!!!

What a great quality, Ed´s voice reminds me those 94 bootlegs, i know it´s been 17 years and is not THE same voice, but i saw them in Santiago 2005, USA 2006 and Santiago again 2011, and didn´t hear Ed on such a good level, specially on those "don´t go on meeee" before the chorus...

  • Simply the GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE. No matter how much I love their music, their lyrics, their show, I still find that what inspires me the most, is the way THEY feel when the play, their view of the music, their view of love, true success, and true art. One simply can tell what really matters for them, and they certainly don't hide it. I through the years, I've met in my country (CR) seriously devoted hardcore PJ fans that share these emotions too. They had to play here.

With all this PJ20 anniversary, the documentary, the album, it was a perfect year for this to happen.

All I can say is THANK YOU Pearl Jam. You may never read this, but I know you got the message from our crowd. YOU changed our lives. YOUR music is the soundtrack of our lives. We feel you, you feel us. That is success. Your legacy is priceless. I will never forget 11-20-2011.

  • Awww guys I'm so happy for you all!

Your comments remind me so much of the first time I saw them live in São Paulo...it was a mix of emotions I didn't know if I was crying, laughing or singing the songs (prolly all three)...thanks for bringing those memories back by posting your reviews...I'm genuinely happy for you amigos...and the fact that it took 20 years just makes it even MORE SPECIAL, don't you agree?

    Hugs!

So glad I finally got to experience this opening pair at my 18th show!

Never thought flying thousands of miles to get whacked in the face could feel so good! Amazing opening. People were losing their fricking minds! I'm disappointed to say it but that level of totally berserk enthusiasm is WAY beyond anything I've been part if in the US.

If the brothers from El Salvador and their friends are reading this, I'm sorry we got separated, I hoped to hang out w/ you after the show! I hope it exceeded your expectations!

  • Came in from Texas to see the show! It was incredible...loved the set list and the more I think about it the more I love it. I would've liked some more stuff from some of the late 90s but they gotta play to their crowd.

What was so amazing were the fans, many knew every word to every song and were so thrilled to see PJ. That to me was almost as amazing as the show!

Eddie sounds FEROCIOUS in that video. He absolutely nailed the song, sounded like it was 15 years ago.
