Wow, I had no idea about this.

Yes. You are missing out on some of their best work (and two more than decent covers - Rock n Roll - velvet underground - is killer) ... Whores, 1%, My Time, Would For You, some of the best songs they ever did.
Gotta say...I'm a little jealous of your ignorance, dc :D.....I would LOVE to be able to discover that album all over again :)
And I say ignorance in the most friendly way possible...I actually wasn't aware of the S/T album until well after Ritual came out, myself. It was pretty much never stocked in any of the music stores I used to frequent, and without the internet, discovering a bands' back catalogue wasn't exactly an easy process. I remember seeing a poster of the album cover at a bar, and commenting about it to a friend, who enlightened me as to what it was....spent a couple weeks trying to track the thing down after that....
  • ^ Well, in fairness, Jane's has a pretty scatty catalog in any event. IMO one of the most piecemeal catalogs around, given their on-again/off-again longevity.
