that is a good one. I rememeber when that album came out.

this is a good one that I enjoy:

    Broone's Bane
    The Trees
    Xanadu

from Rush's live album Exit...Stage Left
  • Disposition, Reflection, and Triad from Tool's Lateralus

    Beatles - Abbey Road

    Mean Mr. Mustard
    Polythene Pam
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window

So many come to mind, and while those aren't even my favorite Beatles songs, as far as 3 consecutive songs go, and the way they are connected to each other, it is the main one that stands out.

Thorn In My Pride, Bad Luck, Blue Eyes Goodbye, and Sometimes Salvation from The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. Although it's really hard not to shift the 3 and go with Hotel Illness or Remedy. That album is amazing.
  • Keep Talking - Lost For Words - High Hopes

Fuck yeah, that is a spectacular record. I would say that Sting Me > Remedy >Thorn In My Pride is another great 3 song combo from that album.

Probably Songs for the Deaf. First you get kicked in the teeth with Millionaire, then you get into that groovy son of a bitch No One Knows, then the darkness of First It Giveth. One of the strongest opening runs I've ever heard.

In my opinion...best album ever made.
  • Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil is a brilliant album start to finish, and the whole thing fits together, end to end, to the point where I hardly ever listen to an individual song off this album. If you are gonna listen to City of Evil, you need to listen to the whole thing - all 11 songs, back to back. Closest thing hard rock/metal comes to a Rock Opera. The first time I heard this album, I was simply amazed at how it fit together, end to end. I would not remove or change out a single song on this album.

I simply can't pick one 3-song sequence on that album, in fact. The closest I can come is this sequence:

    Bat Country
    Trashed and Scattered
    Seize the Day
    Sidewinder
    The Wicked End
    Strength of the World

In that sequence, you have a breathtaking lyrical progression of a good vs evil storyline...but incredibly, the songs range from maximum shredding to a near ballad to a classical guitar duet, to a full choral/symphonic number (no, I am not making this up). This is one of the most ambitious albums I've seen come out of a young band...and it is very impressive.

But really...J'd listen to the whole thing, end to end. It's the only way to truly understand what they are trying to accomplish with this record.

Enormously talented young men. And Synyster Gates is a Guitar God - quite possibly the best of his generation, IMO.

Though you could probably choose any run of 3 tracks from DSOTM and it would apply.

The Black Crowes hardly write a bad track but they have yet to better The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. It is from start to finish a true classic.
Nice thread idea that will have me spotting many more three song combos!!
