What makes their albums great is Page's superb production on them. One of the best producers in music history.

Don't think so - I think all were satisfied with the 1994 remasters. No need for them to grab more money every 5 years a la Rolling Stones.

Maybe vinyl-wise they can. Did they reissue those in 1994?

There were some fairly recent vinyl reissues that are considered the pretty amazing. 200g vinyl, they can still be had new, but they are definitely pricey.

    I-$150
    II-$300
    III-$170
    IV-$225
    Phys Graff-$250
    Presence-$230

Those are the prices over at acousticsounds.com.

I highly recommend Mothership and TSRTS reissue from a few years back on vinyl. I have all the originals and they sound great, but I really like what they did for Mothership tracks and TSRTS is better than the original in every possible way.

I think I'll skip on the album reissues. I found a pretty good used copy at my record shop, along with Physical Graffiti. I should get Presence and Coda cleaned up. I should stop by to see if 2, 3, and Houses of the Holy are in good condition. My dad has IV and TSRTS. Are Mothership and TSRTS reissue still widely available and not too expensive?

Vinyl wasn't a big thing in the mid-90s. Except for me, when I bought all the LZ albums at a used record store. :D Vitalogy really got me into vinyl. Thanks PJ!!!

It's funny how Presence is all over the place in people's lists. Certainly a polarizing album. I say it's Zep being Zep as best they could at that point. And Achilles Last Stand can certainly be considered their greatest song. Considering the adversity some members of the band were facing at the time, it was quite the effort.

I love Bonham's drumming on that song.

$60 for 4lp. They were $50 around the time they came out, but still not bad.

    1. Presence - I love the creativity and Dark Mood on this album. The multiple layers of guitars and interaction with vocals on "Achilles Last Stand" gives me chills every time. Plus the drums and bass relentlessly pushing that song kind of reminds me of an out-of-control horse and carriage running faster and faster down a winding mountain side road at midnight in October.

    2. LZ1 - an album made by 4 young dudes without many expectations, just pure love of what they were doing - The name of the band AND the album says it all - taken from Keith Moon's comment to Jimmy - "It (the band) will go over like a Lead Zeppelin" - or something like that.

    3. LZ2 - The "Yes we are for real" statement album, John Paul Jones really contributes some exceptional Bass work.

4-5 - LZ III & LZ IV -- Tied - These almost "feel" like they were conceived in the same time frame. They are certainly different enough from one another, but still, to me, they share some of the same "we are doing this for us" creative mojo.

    6. Houses of the Holy - I cant really justify why this amazing album sits at #6 for me, I'd put it at #1, but then
I'd have to bump my favorite to some other position.... and then... ahhhhh....
can't compute, having a meltdown... this is too hard.

I cant finish this list except to say that "In through the Out Door" is last - I think I read somewhere that this is the one where Jimmy was too strung out to contribute like on the previous albums and JPJ had to basically push this one out. It almost feels like a John Paul Jones / Robert Plant side project.
I Still like it, but it is last on my list.

    This didn't help:
I thought it would be fun to rank all the albums by a bunch of different bands. If anyone wants to start other bands' threads that would be cool.

Not to blow your mind...Led Zeppelin IV

23 MILLION physical copies sold just in the US. LPS, 8 tracks, cassettes, and CD's. Not including the box and ZERO official downloads from the internet.

That's twenty three million copies of that one record in just the US.
