Has anyone actually drank a cold bottle of this brew yet? What if it tastes horrible? Has the appetite for collectibles driven you Lost Dogs mad?

I have 1 bottle in the fridge that was sent to Texas. It will be drank next Saturday with my best friend as we celebrate his 40th birthday, I'll post pics after.0

Reviews from Beer Advocate have been rough...B- last time I checked. I'm sitting on one too. Very high demand in NJ. Extremely limited. Gonna sit on it for a while. Like a fine wine, it will age gracefully0

I guess it just depends on your taste. I think its really good but if your a beer snob that only drinks super-hoppy craft beers then your probably gonna be disapointed. Likewise, if you ussually only drink piss beer(Coors,Bud lite, etc) then it may be a little much for you. That being said, I think most beer drinkers will like it and that's probably what they were going for. It reminds me of a nice White Ale or Begian white, has a nice smoothness to it and the currants add an interesting note. Its 7% alcohol though so despite being smooth, has a nice kick to it. I've tryed all 3 of the Dogfishhead Sony releases and they are all very good but all very different. If you like the darker beers, try the Bitches Brew and or Hellhound for My Ale. The Bitches Brew is really tasty if your into Stouts. I think its 3parts Stout mixed with 1 part Honey beer. Dogfishhead makes great beer so I was siked when I heard they were making it. There company slogan is off-centered Ales for off-centered people. Can't think of a cooler brewery to make Pearl Jams anniversary beer. So yes imo, I would say it is worth it. Besides....its Pearl Jam beer!0

LOL, after about 6 Bud lights this thing is gonna taste like the finest Champagne.R-u-t wrote:Reviews from Beer Advocate have been rough...B- last time I checked. I'm sitting on one too. The Bottle is better than the Beer in my opinion, but I'm not a huge fan of DFH beers in general. If you are than you will love it.Memorial Stadium, Seattle - Jul 21 22, 1998

I had it the first day it was released, and I was happy with it. I think the only reason it is worth as this hoopla is because it will be cool to have a bottle to keep as a collectible (after the beer is drank of course).
The beer was not as good as I thought it would be but thats because I have extremely high hopes for any new DFH beer. However, it was refreshing and I am glad I tried it.
My advice for PJ fans: enjoy one bottle and save it after you wash it out. If you like it, get more.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

It does not have that signature DFH taste because there are not enough hops.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

My g/f just asked what is this. I told her it was a beer made in honor of PJ20. She just kinda rolled her eyes.
I just told her 'you know, if I was back in America I would be trying to get some of this myself'
Anyway, hope you all enjoy it!0 -

Do you reall think it is going to age well? It is only 7% and I don't believe it is bottle conditioned. I don't know a whole lot about aging beer (although I did drink a 2010 Fuller's Vintage Ale this evening) but from what I know something like Faithfull ale will probably taste good fresh as possible, and probably won't get any better (and might get worse) if you try to age it.0 -
it's just a beer with a label that happens to say Pearl Jam. as with the backpack, where you could just buy a PJ20 patch and sew it on yourself to any old bag, grab your favourite brew, and make your own label.

Hey now!!!!! You've made it sound like I don't get the PJ obsession. You know very well I do. I was rolling my eyes cause it's not like it's the worlds best beer or anything - you people are all just going nuts cause it's got a cool label on it. AND I also said I get wanting one bottle of it to see/keep, but like, cases of it or something??? That's why I rolled my eyes cause what if it tastes crappy? Then you're stuck with a heap of bad tasting beer, and at least if it was the worlds best beer, you could just get shitfaced and not care. Anyway....0 -

The difference is that there are a lot of people (including myself) who sort of collect beers. I don't know anyone who does that with backpacks.
You can buy a lot of beer every week, yet you buy a backpack every few years. I get what you're saying though- for those who don't love beer it is sort of weird to get it just for the bottle.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

hey man, I love beer. All I'm saying is, and correct me if I'm wrong, this isn't a special brew. This is their same beer just with a different label, is it not?
I guess I shouldn't judge. I've spent a lot on stuff of this band that others around here would say "WTF" to as well. It just seems like the trade/sale worth of this is ridiculous right off the hops. (ooooh, horrible pun).
when I was a teen, I actualy used to collect beers, especially the ones that came out only once a year. But I was dumb, and didn't wash the bottles out before I put them on the shelf. Later found them all full of spiders and mold!
I actually have a really nice bar, so it might be nice to collect some again.Gimli 1993

This is a special "limited edition" brew. It was made specifically to celebrate PJ20. They are making more of it now and then I'm guessing they are either done or will brew one more batch.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

"Faithfull Ale is a celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its extraordinary debut album, "Ten." In recognition of these milestones, this Belgian-style golden ale is delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. I drank it yesterday and was quite disappointed in it. It tastes like a mild blue moon to me. Not really a heck of a lot of flavors; it was just a simple golden ale. Wasn't worth the $17 I paid for it.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

What do you mean by "mild"? It has a higher alcohol content than Blue Moon (which tastes terrible btw).severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31
