  • as much as I want the next reissue box, I'm kinda glad it will be a while yet. I don't have those albums on vinyl, but this will give me some time for more important things........like Pearl Jam shoes.

  • keep in mind, also, that Mike seems to be the guy out of the loop on the band's plans. his latest gaffe was saying there would be an EP of b-sides from backspacer, which not only never saw the light of day, but wasn't even mentioned by any other member of the band.

I think they feed him false info as they know he'll spill it to the media, and they like keeping the fans two steps behind.

  • I don't get why people get excited about reissues anyway unless its vinyl they're interested in that they couldn't otherwise afford. Whats the point? Its just rehashing the same material with different packaging thats way overpriced. I'll take a new album any day.

Well, I can only speak for myself: I love the reissue editions because they're an easy and secure way to get the old albums on nice new vinyls (back in the 90s, I bought just "Vs", and today it's very old and scratched); because of the live albums that come together and the extra material (unreleased tracks, the tape in the first box, the books, etc). The remastering thing it's not the point for me; I'm not an audiophile and I can hardly hear any difference.

Someone asked for a complete translation of the interview. Unfortunately, I can't do it, I don't have the time now, but it's nothing special (except the thing about the reissues that I posted). There was a question about the six years the band took to play in Brazil again; about the 20th anniversary of the band; if the band is still concerned about the price of the tickets (about the fight against Ticketmaster, Mike says that they had to forget about the whole thing); about X opening the shows (Mike says they all love the band and that X is one of the most underrated bands of the USA); about the other bands and projects of each member (Mike says that they can't ever relax, because when they're not working with Pearl Jam, then they're on the road with the other bands!) and about Mike's influence (he talks about Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix). I think these are the highlights!

I'm not dead-set on the whole box set thing. Just repress the vinyl so we can get them at a reasonable price like the Foo Fighters are doing later this month. I haven't bought the Vs/Vitalogy box set yet because I already own a copy of both on vinyl and that's what I'm really after. Incomplete shows, cassette tapes, and pictures of the band don't impress me.

    THIS.

The reissues have been pretty disappointing to me thus far - heavy on packaging, light on worthwhile content. They could've easily had a bonus disc or two per album full of b-sides, alternate takes, rehearsals, etc - plus a complete show (or three) for each tour.

I'd prefer they just worry about getting a great new record written.
