In Brazil, Mike McCready talks about Pearl Jam next plans
Hey, fellas --
In Brazil, Mike McCready gave an interview to a local newspaper, and if you understand Portuguese, you can read it here: http://goo.gl/5uC7h
There was an answer that made me happy and sad at the same time... I will translate it to you:
Well, I am happy to hear about the new songs and the plans to record some more in March. As long as I'm not a big fan of "Backspacer", then I'm already looking forward to hear a new record next year!
Ok, that's nothing new, but about the reissues... that made me sad.
I was very happy with the possibility of a big box with "No Code" and "Yield" next year, a big box with vinyls, a book, a live album, you know, the same wonderful treatment of the two previous boxes. But now, I think it's better to forget this expectation for some time. It's not like they officialy cancelled the reissues, but it seems that there's no definition at all. At best, we who love "No Code" and "Yield" are gonna have to wait some more time. But the thing is, he said about "take another year before continuing this process", and in a year, a lot of things can happen, especially in the record industry, you know, with the sales going down, losses, things like that... and we all know that these two albuns weren't exactly big hits (which shows how this world is weird, of course).
Well, let's wait and hope that the reissues keep coming, even if it takes some more time... at least, for the next two albums! (After that, well, I wouldn't be that sad if they stopped...)

Q: The first three albums were reissued. What about the others, will they be reissued too?
A: It's a good question. I don't know about it right now. I think we'll take a break with the reissues. I thought that we would keep doing it, but maybe it will take another year before continuing this process. At the end we'll probably remaster everything and Brendan O'Brien will remix some albums. But in this moment we are in the process of composing an album, we have seven songs, (...) and we'll work on the rest of them next year in March.

 What?!  :wtf:  :problem: You don't want to see Riot Act or Pearl Jam being reissued? Sorry man, but as you said before, our world is indeed weird (I would add crazy too).Fabricio wrote:(After that, well, I wouldn't be that sad if they stopped...)Athens 2006 / Milton Keynes 2014 / London 1&2 2022 / Seattle 1&2 2024 / Dublin 2024 / Manchester 2024 / New Orleans 2025 / Tokyo 20260 -

That's not what I wrote. I said that I would't be as sad as if "No Code" and "Yield" didn't have their box... I like "Riot Act", "Pearl Jam" and also "Binaural", and I would buy their box sets and everything. But "No Code" and "Yield" are two personal favourites. That's all... no need to get nervous!

To be honest, I'm not sure why the albums have to be reissued. Just issue vinyl and a dvd/blu ray from each of the band's era and I'd be happy. No need to remix/remaster anything.

I don't get why people get excited about reissues anyway unless its vinyl they're interested in that they couldn't otherwise afford. Whats the point? Its just rehashing the same material with different packaging thats way overpriced. I'll take a new album any day.0

Could I just ask why you're interested in a reissue? You must already own these albums. I don't always think remasters sound that much better. Just curious.0 -
Because I like getting unreleased tracks from that era and an official release of an old show like Drop In the park & Orpheum.iOnlyownMymind wrote:PearlJamPatriot wrote:I was looking forward to a reissue of No Code & Yield as well.

As much as this is good news....kinda bad news. I was under the impression the album was almost finished. Back in April, they all got together and continued working on the album. Now they will continue in March almost a year later....gulp. I don't know......kinda hoping for Spring release but now that gone.....

Hoping of the Earth is one of them!
Ole...that's another story.
Anyway, yeah I thought they were further along as well. This probably means we won't get a new record until Fall 2012. Damn, that feels like such a long way off!0 -

No US tour until 2013?
Actually, that could make sense. Late 2012, perhaps a trip to Australia? We know they like to tour where it's summer, which puts the US as "doubtful" for 2012.

Woo hoo bring on the Aussie tour in summer 2012!!!! Perfect for my quick round Oz trip  I'm secretly happy that the new album might be a late release because I couldn't take any time off before November.
