I agree about everything that's been said so far - that guy was so freaking annoying, and he was probably about 2-3 rows behind us. If that guys reads this, just know that you were SUPREMELY OBNOXIOUS and no one, including Eddie, found any of your ridiculous ranting flattering or funny...
But... that isn't to say that the show was really that adversely affected by him, I think everyone eventually just tuned out cro-mag (including Eddie) and went on with things.
As far as I remember - there was really nothing said before 'I'm One', for that person that was asking. Sorry, he just sort of went into it and it killed.
Also, a beautiful moment came before Arc - I was convinced that guy was going to yell something because the crowd went DEAD silent for an extended period there (at least from where I was). It was nerve-wracking, because with each passing second (and it was at least 20 - 30 seconds of Ed getting set to record the first loop) I thought 'someone is going to ruin this' - but everyone, including single-chromosone-EDDIE!!-freak, kept very quiet.
I've been lucky in having seen Arc the first time Eddie tried it in San Diego in 2003 and later in Montreal (2003) - but this version was just draw-droppingly beautiful.
Wish I was going tonight, but I'm back in Ottawa - I begrudgingly wish people an even better show tonight!

Just got home and wish I was still in Montreal for tonight's show. A long ride home sucks after an experience like that!
Hope everyone enjoys tonight.

That's really awesome. But why is the audience at every show filled with so many selfish dumbass mfers who want to hear themselves make noise. JUST SHUT THE EFF UP AND LET ME MAN PUT ON A CONCERT FOR CHRIST SAKE. I can't believe this screaming shit never subsides and continues at every show. Why don't people just listen...listen....listen and enjoy.
Even the rythmic clapping. COME ON. NO. NO NO NO NO. Don't rythmic clap. LISTEN. Rythmic clapping is just the worst. just don't. UGGHH. All of these shows are great. Its just too bad each and every one of them are poisoned by a bunch of selfish idiots making unneccessary comments that skew eds direction...EVERY NIGHT. Let him sing. You paid to watch him sing. SHUT UP AND HE MIGHT PLAY THE SONG YOU ARE SO RUDLY DEMANDING HE PLAY.
UGGGHHHHHH.
Damn.
What made you tape that tune or do you have more. Just wondering
This guy sucked. I hope he reads this. I thought the crowd was preety good other than this retard. And anytime he started his nonsense some others would follow. I felt like if he just shut up and stopped his WWE Chants other people wouldn't follow him. The whole area around us was annoyed by this guy. That being said he could not ruin the night because it was indeed a spectacular show.
OK, I really need to get this off my chest. First and foremost, the show was fantastic. Starting with Liam and EJ, do NOT miss this. Jaw-dropping.
Next Eddie was the consummate performer. Well orchestrated, witty, sound was fantastic, etc., etc. Highlights for me were: Sometimes, MOTH, Far Behind, Blackbird, Throw Your Arms around Me, I'm One, ARC......hell it was all good!
That being said......that asshole, THE asshole that everyone has referred to thus far was RIGHT next to me. Not near me as in the vicinity of me, but in the seat immediately next to me (actually the seat to my left). Yeah, I'm talking to you guy in Row H, seat 12. You are a fucking idiot! Not only that, I am pretty sure you are a closet homosexual. Nothing against homosexuals honestly, but he was there with his girlfriend or wife, yet still literally made comments to me, or to himself I guess, of "How beautiful" Ed was several times. During "Sometimes" after the "Your God and you've got big hands..." lyrics he was actually standing up screaming "Your God, Eddie!" "You are my God!" “I love you.” Now I love Ed as much as the next 10Clubber, but in a purely artistic way.
My friend recently brought his daughter to a Jonas Brothers concert and I guarantee at 13 years old she acted more civilized and mature than this friggin' ape. He also sat there the whole time with his fingertips to his teeth, like Nelson Muntz at the Andy Williams concert waiting to hear "Moon River" (for you Simpsons fans, you will get the imagery). I am sure this guy cried to himself several times during the show. No lie!
Now, many people in the surrounding area told him many times, very pointedly to "Shut up." One such person behind us was greeted with "What'd you say? Huh? Come on over here." Like this guy was ready to kick his ass! He did have your typical meathead look too, but I’d guess he was between 35-40. I had also made several comments to him to keep it down as well as my wife and the people to the other side of us....all to obvious no avail. As much as I tried to tune this guy it, it was near impossible. I also feel extremely bad for the guy right in front of him as cro-magno was sitting at the very edge of his seat the whole time and shouting directly into this guys ear most of the time.
I really don’t want to rant on anymore about this as I have already done plenty in person to my brother, his wife, and my waife (all in attendance and well aware of the man).
If I were slightly larger and more confrontational, and this went through my head several times, I would have kicked this guys ass for the benefit of everyone else in the theater knowing full well I would have been kicked out. Of course, I am not a violent person and I am only 5'6", 135 lbs.
I tuned out as much as I could and thoroughly enjoyed the show all the same……but for everyone that reads this and attends an upcoming show, if a similar guy is around, gang up on him and force the issue. We’d all be a lot better off for it.
Ed, sorry for all the negativity in relation to your show. It was awesome and I love you in a much more platonic, laid back, respect your art type of way. Good luck with the rest of the tour. I know it will be great.
It was so great to experience Eddie by himself, the atmosphere was so different than any PJ show but the power was all there.
Best for me were Millworker, Porch, Gone, Arc, and Throw Your Arms Around Me. But they were all great and memorable. Throw Your Arms was great with Liam Finn, their harmonies worked really well and it was done like I had never seen it before. I almost liked it more than when Eddie did the song with Mark Seymour himself in Australia in '03.
Haha and the funniest was when he fucked up during Broken Hearted... "Fuck Me".... and then again shortly after....."Fuck Me, Again! I'll have to smash this guitar into pieces, because I like to blame other things for my mistakes" haha of course, he finished the song beautifully.
For anyone seeing a future show, SEE LIAM FINN. He is all energy and he can tear up that stage with presence. I'm definitely going to by his album, what a great addition to Ed's tour.
Ultimately, the show was so well balanced and intimate, yet had so much power. Montreal is a great city, and it is a memory that I will not soon forget.
I knew there'd be the hecklers at the show (or should I just say ONE heckler), so as much as the guy bugged me, at least he didn't just keep screaming for PJ songs. Screaming his love for Eddie isn't half as bad as hearing song requests from the audience.
We had 12th row, great seats! The whole show was just amazing, the sound was incredible, Eddie sounded better than ever, and kept us all in stitches with his killer sense of humor. I loved Blackbird, Lukin was a great surprise, and all the ITW soundtrack songs. Just a great show.
Wow!!! Thank you so much for this show. I missed out on Ten Club ticket so I ended up with seats in the very back row. I was still pretty excited to go, but went straight up to cloud nine when a few guys who worked for the venue came up and traded me my back row balcony seats for FRONT ROW seats!!! I'll be home tomorrow and will tell you everything.
thank you!
Ok, so I'm finally home and have had a little bit of rest. Once again the show was fantastic. There were a lot of songs that I was thrilled to hear, and I really enjoyed the banter and interaction with fans. It was such a great feeling to be up front especially for Hard Sun when we got to go right up to the stage. Eddie stood at a different mike for that so he was right infront of me. One of the security guys looked like he was going to stop people from moving forward but Eddie waved them off and said it was ok. He also shook all of our hands. I saw the guys who were giving out front row tickets again on Sunday. They weren't just giving them to people in the very back row, but were being kinda selective about it, perhaps choosing people who showed some excitement already. On Sunday it was great to watch them select other unknowing fans and see the excitement in their eyes when they found out they would be moving from the back to the front.
I could not have asked for a better concert experience. I've always been happy with my 10c seats before, and even though I didn't get 10c seats for this show I was satisfied just to see the show, but this absolutely blew me out of the water. Thanks again...

I also noticed the long silence before Arc, that was real appropriate...he was giving it all out ! But I remember someone shouted "Peace and Love", it was right after No More, so real appropriate again...and he went on and answered, before starting Arc: "I'll try to do something with that love you manifest"
The responding peace signs from Ed, were great to see
Let me tell you the second show was even better, not to take away anything from the first one, the crowd sounded better, the people he brought on stage ( I'll let others describe it in the second trend), the sing-a-long of Small Town, WOW !!!
The three songs from Dylan, Masters of War, was the song I wanted to hear the most.
The sound of the guitars/mandoline and Ed's voice was just perfect in this great theater of Place des Arts. Bravo Montreal.
The second half of Montreal 2, was just filled with love, Ed was reffering alot to love in the summer ! Something Canadians can relate to with the harsh winters we have.
We all know he'll be back, you could see his great appreciation throughout the whole show ! Thanks Ed, great shows !
Phild44 is a lucky bastard!!! :P Glad to see that you enjoyed the 2nd show as much as the 1st one, despite me not being with you! lol

simply amazing... just got home from our road trip to Montreal for the weekend. Thank you 10C for fourth row, dead center tickets!! Eddies voice sounded extraordinary. The highlights for me were I am mine, Blackbird (which was excellent beyond words) and No More. The extra long Hard Sun to finish was awesome and got better when he told everyone to move up to the stage, so i was within arms distance of him which was an experience in itself. The people who thought it necessary to yell EDDDIIEE every single time there was silence became very annoying after the first time, how long does it take for those idiots to realize Eddie wanted them to stop doing it? Big up to the girl who yelled "And we hate you" after the same guy yelled "We love you eddie" for the tenth time. Amazing time in Montreal and VERY excited for the new cd to come out!

just got back from an 11 hour drive back from Montreal
caught both shows
first one was very good aside from our seats (second balcony 4th row... shutout of 10C tix)
all in all it was an awesome show, Liam Finn was ok, awesome drummer and kinda wild with the guitar but a good opener.
MAIN SET: Walking the Cow, Trouble, Sometimes, I Am Mine, Dead Man, Man of the Hour, Setting Forth, No Ceiling, Guaranteed, Far Behind, Rise, Millworker, Goodbye, Broken Hearted, Driftin', Hide Your Love Away, (DTE snippet),Blackbird, Gone, Porch [END OF MAIN SET]
1ST ENCORE: Society (w/Liam Finn), Throw Your Arms Around Me (w/Liam Finn), Wishlist, Lukin, I'm One (Pete Townshend), No More, Arc
2ND ENCORE: Hard Sun (w/Liam Finn and EJ Barnes)
Thanks for the setlist man. Thanks to Ed for maintaining a cool composure from all the flashes and crazy yell and shoutouts.
Let me start by saying I was a PJ fan in the early 90's (saw them in Montreal in 93) and then kind of strayed away. Not just from PJ just music in general. I used to pop in a PJ CD from time to time though.
I got free tix to the EV show in Montreal (night 1) and loved it soo much that I went and purchased a ticket for night 2. I forgot how amazing he is. I thoroughly enjoyed both shows. ARC simply blew my mind. The encore of Hard Sun was great.
I found EV in more of a relaxed mood on night 2. Night 1 he made many political statements (which I liked as I share his views) about the gov, oil, the war, Afro american treatment etc. Night 2 seemed like more of a party, as mentioned early. Anyway they were both spectacular nights.
I am pleased to re-introdced to EV and PJ and delighted to see there are a few albums that I had not heard of. its good to be back. :O)
I saw PJ in Brisbane, Australia in March '95 and for no particular reason other than not being much of a concert-goer, I haven't seen them since. As much as I appreciate PJ and listen to them frequently, my real interest has always been Eddie Vedder's voice, preferably without too much interference. That made ITW an instant classic in my collection.
Thanks to my PJ fanatic - I use that in the best sense of the word - bro-in-law (I think Sunday was his 29th PJ/EV concert) who knows how much I enjoy his solo work, I got to see EV from third row center on Sunday night. The concert was the single greatest musical experience I have had. He kidded about spoiling concerts for the little girl he "serenaded"... I'm afraid being that close in an eager and appreciative, but otherwise pleasantly reserved and respectful, audience is likely to make any future concert experience pale in comparison.
It was truly an awesome experience, well worth the drive from Maine!
She was sitting to my right. She had a white cloth purse between her feet. She was the one who told me that Eddie’s producer had brought her, her boyfriend and 6-8 of their friends down from the last row.
If you are interested you could take a look at my other post (story from a lucky man at Montreal 1)

Holy shit, that was amazing. I was 17-18 rows back with my dad, next to another dude from Ottawa. Seats were GREAT, I don't know how you could complain about that. Blackbird was the highlight of the night, other than the fact that I met Ed in the parking lot!
Wow sounds amazin~ YOU MET ED~!! So~ what did you say? Or do? Thought you could just sneek that in like that and not say more? Was he alone? Tell us~tell us more please~thanks
friday i took the 10 hour, forever crossing the border, greyhound bus up from nyc
and had planned to score a cheap balconey ticket outside and maybe take a vid or two from up there,
but thanks to a super cool 10c member who had an extra, i was in the 10th row center.
so of course not to be scoped by ed and ruin his vibes, i threw the idea of taking vids out the window.
but did turn the camera on between my legs for BLACKBIRD, so here is audio only,
of an ever so potent and poignant version of the beatles classic with ed the genius bringing it up to the current times.
do wish i had the camera on ed at the 2 minute mark when he did flip his middle finger to explain "thats when you're looking for this"
I met Ed after the show, I'm a little modest about just blurting something like that out, but waiting around the theatre for an hour and a half "just to see what could happen" paid off.
I was hanging out with the rest of the groupies by the tour bus, because me and a friend had time on our hands, until we decided that it was ridiculous to stand there so long and left the small crowd and started walking down the street in search of a good pub. We were walking behind the building when a few people exited through a side door, and it was my friend who was like "that's got to be him!" And it was, with some security. So I ran up w/ my playbill; there was only a couple of us; and as he took my playbill to sign, I told Eddie how thankful I was for the music and the inspiration. He stopped writing, looked straight at me and said "you're welcome!" and did sort of a double take at me. He finished writing, passed back the program and told me that I was beautiful!! I'm not kidding, and I'm still very stunned!!! Wow!!!

Nope, none of the above, just really lucky timing...PERFECT timing. I did have on a tee-shirt w/ many doves in the shape of a peace sign, similar to the one he owns, though, that he's worn at some shows. Maybe that had something to do with it!

You were lucky indeed! I bet you were glowing for awhile~ or are still glowing. I know I would be. I can just see his eyes light up for you~ you must have good karma and are a good person for that to have happened. More to you then just being beautiful....Congratulations!Continued Good Luck to you always!

Oh, I do! And I noticed from pics from night 2 that he was wearing those white pants again! I'm wondering if he went free like he had been recently on tour w/ the band with the white pants...He was sitting this time, so it's hard to tell.
And thanks for your kind words. I'm still just blown away!

Montreal 1; the first Ed show for me on the East Coast.
Had seat G 15. In the middle. Had such a great time. Liam was on fire, and so was Ed. The crowd was wild. As the flashing came from all over. The screaming & yelling to Ed was too much. The singing of the bird was my favorite.
I organized the Eddie Vedder Wishlist Foundation preparty at McLeans pub that day. Our benefiary was Dans la Rue. http://danslarue.org/ . It was a great turnup. We raised $447 dollars. I was there early at the pub. A fan came in and passed down his Toronto 2 '06 BK poster, framed. We had it up for auction. The bid closed at if i remembered, just $65 bucks!!! I don't have this poster, and there wasn't any way I could take it on the road, and fly back with it to Halifax.
I meet a few old friends, made a few new friends. It was a great time helping out at the table. Wished the pub's DVD player worked. There were so many HD tv's in the pub, would of been a sweet Pearl Jam experience.
I did manage to buy a few extra posters that night, which I hooked up a few friends, and raffled one of them off for Night 2.
Montreal is just amazing. My stay was just across the corner of China Town. I'll be back there again. I love the French. Wished I didn't drop the course back in High School. D'oh!

All five horizons...
Arc was a real highlight...one of the many..Hide your love away and Blackbird...
All the "into the wild was awesome ..
But ARC ,man it was good ,his voice blows me away everytime....
also the poster is cool
Thanks Ed, great shows !

all in all it was an awesome show, Liam Finn was ok, awesome drummer and kinda wild with the guitar but a good opener.

Thank you so much for sharing that. Who would have known Ed has a great sense of humor. That saying no that is to get a girl was funny, thanks again
ôjô
Wow!!!

Thats wonderful~ I am jealous of you oh beautiful one~ you should have took that ball and ran~HEY~ did you have on white pants, hat or a white purse? Did you have a baby or small child? Engaged recently or recently married? Hmmmm~ Or ~~maybe you re just really beautiful!!! If you werent do you think he would have walked by?
Nope, none of the above, just really lucky timing...PERFECT timing. I did have on a tee-shirt w/ many doves in the shape of a peace sign, similar to the one he owns, though, that he's worn at some shows. Maybe that had something to do with it!
Have you been reading the other posts from people who met him? I hope you understand that white thing issue~ it was kinda a joke
God I love those white pants! And ~ Hail Hail to Freedom! YES!
D'oh!
Did anyone ever get the setlist from this show?
