    Roots Manuva

I love Roots Manuva! Are you USA based? Have many people heard of him over there?

    My favourite hip-hoppers are:

    Run DMC
    Public Enemy
    Cypress Hill
    FUnkdoobiest
    Beastie Boys
    De La Soul
    Roots Manuva
    NWA
    De la Soul
    Chali 2na

But as you can probably tell from this list, my taste has pretty much been frozen in time. To be honest I hardly listen to much rap these days.

No UK as well. He's touring soon as well I think I may go to the Manchester show. I have yet to pick up the new album though.

*I left Jurassic 5 off my list* :o

    Eminem

Anyone heard of Saul Williams - I love his music - it is more poetic but there's definitely an element of hip-hop as well, and he has a new album out tomorrow.

  • :o No mention yet of Just Ice and KRS One. These guys started it all. Jay Z and those other false claimers try to rap about the hard nock life, but these guys lived it. They are the inspiration of every rapper from '89 forward. The best rap of yesterday, today and tomorrow bar none. They rapped for a purpose other than getting the suburbanites to buy their albums.

Also, +1 for Tupac. That guy was a genius who touched everyone. I'll never forget the time that I was talking to my manager at Winn Dixie (a grocery store) when I was 17 on the day after Tupac's death. To give you some some context - my manager was about as prude as you can get. I was surprised that this guy new there was such a thing as music, let alone rap. Anyway, he told me that he was at a stop light on his way to work and this black guy pulled up along side him and yelled out of his window "Hey dog, turn your lights on, Tupac's dead." I asked my manager what he did and he said " I turned my lights on, of course, Tupac was amazing." Nuff said..
    I'm still alive..

I barely listen to any rap at all. However, the Canadian rapper/singer/songwriter K-OS is quite awesome. The dude is ridiculously talented:

I love Saul Williams. He's got such a unique approach...and of course his collaborations with Trent Reznor only cement his high status.
