Fantasy Football Today: Who should i start?

Who should i play?

I have 5 spots, and 6 eligible players.

2 WR slots, 2 RB slots and a W/R flex...

At the moment i have Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Lloyd as my WR, DeMarco Murray and Cedric Benson as my RB's, and Brandon Marshall as my flex, leaving Mike Tolbert on the bench. I have Ryan Mathews too, but he's doubtful.

In my league's scoring system, Tolbert is projected to get me just under 23, but it's a PPR league and nearly half of that is catches out of the backfield... While Murray and Benson really aren't pass catchers, but are projected to get more yards... They're up against decent run defences though, while Tolbert is up against Green Bay...

Thoughts?

That's 1 of 2 options i'm considering... the other is bench Murray, start Tolbert..

Marshall though, has the potential every game for a bunch of catches and some big yardage... ugh...

It looks like Bradford is out, and Lloyd is already building a rapport with Feeley.

Matt Moore is throwing to Marshall... just too many drops.

I'm starting Bowe. Benching him isn't an option.

A few pundits I read are big on Tolbert this week because Matthews and what's-his-name are banged up.

    Curtis Brinkley

But to play in place of who though?

  • when in doubt always play a rb and bench the wr. keep benson in

And i've ALWAYS lived by this rule... however... Cedric is up against a team (TEN) giving up 130 a game on the ground, DeMarco Murray is up against Seattle, giving up 103 on the ground, and Tolbert is up against GB, giving up 102.

Marshall is up against KC, giving up 260 through the air, Lloyd against AZ giving up 296 and Bowe against the Dolphins, giving up 282.

    They're all favorable matchups...

Lloyd is playing for a new team, in a new conference and league, that hasn't seen a lot of him, so i think i'm going to keep him in. And Bowe is the #1 ranked reciever this week... but Marshall has huge big play ability, just not overly consistent...

Tolbert i feel is hit and miss, but i think Romo is going to throw a lot, and Seattle can be stingy if they're on.. i'm almost leaning toward taking Murray out...

I rank them in a PPR league like this:

Tolbert (should catch 4 or 5 balls)
Lloyd (getting a lot of targets)
Bowe (think the 2ndary is bit hurt AND it's Miami to begin with)
    Murray (feature back)
Marshall (getting targets and is bound to catch more than he has been)
Benson (that's one ugly lookin' dude)

  • all wr can either get you 20 points or 3, depending on whether they see the end zone. most rb's will get you 10 plus on a weekly basis. its a roll of the dice either way. matchups based on previous games with differant players are not necessarily a good judgement on starting or sitting a player; it is important to look at the underlying factors that led to the bad stats on the opposing team (were the teams playing against them good or bad, do they run or pass more, were they ahead most of the game or behind), as well as what nuances come to play in this weeks current game (see also: injuries - henne)

CJ0k will get a few more starts until they bench him permanently then cut him postseason...

    I also need some help.

My team is hurting first and foremost. Andre Johnson is hurt and out, Javid Best is out, Felix Jones is out, and McGahee is coming off an injury.

I need to start two RB's and two WR's. OR 1 RB and 3 WR's.

I'm starting Shonn Greene as my RB.

    McGahee as my 2nd RB
    Heyward-Bey as my 1st WR

and need to pick a 2nd WR. Here are my choices.

    Eric Decker
    Stevie Johnson (revis island)
    Kevin Walter

So which of those stiffs would you choose for your 2nd WR?

Thanks Guys. (FYI I have Vick and TGone at my QB and TE positions.)

Well the good news is you are in a good spot, no matter who you start.

ALL SIX are viable and at that point it is just a crap shoot.

So even if the one you bench goes off, you can't really second guess yourself.
  • it's a safe bet that O will at least get in the endzone if nothing else. you are on thin ice on a bye week in that league, so you just have to ride the wave where it takes you.. ;) and hope for the best

I hate to say this.. but Ugh. You're solid at QB, and TE, i have TG in my big money league. So the Jets are obviously playing Buffalo, and i don't know much about their run D.

Eric Decker is interesting... with Brandon Lloyd and Tebow, i'd say hell no. W/O Lloyd, and with Tebow it's.... up in the air. Den plays Oak, who laid an egg last time out, but only b/c their offense sucked. And we saw what happened to Tebow last week... so... i dunno...

I don't even know how i feel about Darius... He's got good yardage, but their QB situation is seemingly awful right now...

I say Kevin walter, b/c Johnson is out, and Schaub will throw it, only problem is Foster gets a ton of carries, AND balls out of the backfield...

I would even look at Stevie Johnson... seriously, Revis hasn't been as shut-down as he was last year or the year before....

    I also have a dilemma.

Matthews has been doing great for me all year at RB. Looks like he won't play tomorrow which leaves me with Brandon Jacobs for NY or James Starks for GB.

Ahmad Bradshaw looks doubtful with a broken foot but is Jacobs their go-to back? And Starks starts behind Ryan Grant in GB so how many touches will he actually get?

    Tough one.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Jacobs likes to fumble a lot but is the starter against our beloved pats who probably will concentrate on defending the air assault rather than the run. Ryan grant is a terrible start due to ARog's consistent desire to throw the ball all the time, so starks would be even worse. Jacobs is the man for the job.

Jacobs should do fine. Bradshaw is out and the Pats will give up some yards as both offenses score a lot.

Thanks for the advice. I put Jacobs in over Starks. Good thing I have Greg Jennings as one of my WR''s sine GB's air assault should be in full effect.
