Ok, ok... That made me laugh.
Just blowin off steam.
Truth is, I'd like to camp out in a park playin music, drinkin, tent-hoppin w like-minded co-eds n protesting the bad guys d' jour- sounds awesome actually.
But for grown ups w mouths to feed n bills to pay, who's got the time?
It's a shame that it's gone violent tho...These things only seem to escalate.
I agree, when you get voilent i think you negate whatever your argument you may have had.

In every large gathering/protest... there are ALWAYS those people who fall into the category of, 'You're Really Not Helping...'. Like the Nader supporter that paints himself silver, hops up on stilts, wearing a silver body suit and shows up at the rally. He's the asshole that gets the media coverage and is represented as Nader's base supporters by political opponents.
The Tea Party have those a-holes that can't spell, have no clue what the definitions of Socialism, Fascism and Communism are... yet, bring loaded fucking guns to Town Hall meetings. Those assholes should do the Tea Party a favor and just stay in their fucking fortified bunkers, stroking their gunstocks and sit and wait til the U.N. Blue Helmets come to pry it from their cold, dead hands.
Same goes for those fucking, so-called 'Anarchists' that hurl molotov cocktails at police lines and shatter shop windows. You are nothing but moronic fucking vandals that sort of paid attention in that one PoliSci class at Community College, before you, predictably, dropped out... you are not political activists. Go back to your mom's basement room in your Urban uniform you bought at the Hot Topic in the mall and finish that game of 'World of Warcraft' with your buddies.

These things always get spoiled by the attention being drawn to the sensational rather than the overall majority of what goes on. They also get infiltrated by ... well, whatever you call trolls in real life.

If O.W.S. was smart, they should pull out of Oakland for at least a week. They need to distance themselves from the violence that is occurring. Otherwise, it's hard for the public opinion to differentiate between themselves and a bunch of troublemakers.
Public focus has shifted from N.Y. to Oakland. And that is not good for public perception of O.W.S.
uhh ... it's hypocritical if someone expresses outrage over police violence and then says its ok for protestors to be violent ...
i don't see anyone supporting violence but there needs to be context here ... i have been at the frontlines of CD actions before and I can tell you that not everything is as it appears ...
1. who gains by having the protest turn violent or the message of the occupation move away from the issues to sexual assaults and violence? ... it's clearly not the protestors ... not to say this is true, but we have to consider that external interests are interfering here (especially considering that this is a common practice)
2. i can ask you if you are a violent person and you can say no ... but if i repeatedly bait and harass you or someone you know - it can easily turn violent
3. the OWS protest is about the fundamental problems in our economic system ... a protest that is supported by many many people of all ilks and personality ... it is very possible that some of these people can commit acts of violence and stupidity ...
what is important with this and almost every issue is that we think critically through this and look at the situation as a whole ... if these acts of violence and sexual assaults are indeed committed by OWS supporters - those people need to be arrested and charged ... but in no way should that detract from the message of this protest ... it is because we are so easily distracted and influenced that the many wrongs in society continue to happen ...
All three of your points could just as easily apply to the police.
I disagree. And, additionally, I think you're missing a huge difference between the groups: The police are official representatives of the government.

in my opinion ... they need to finish their occupation and re-organize ...
i would start with a website showing the inequities in the system and the failures of a corporatized gov't ...
