  • hey, i liked the setlist, but i must admit, i would be disappointed if i was one of the many who went just to hear the hits. the first night was much better for that, but oh well. dissident was fantastic and it was great hearing mfc. Also, Eddie had little, if any, political agenda tonight, which was surprising. (except in the tag to wishlist)

it was great hearing them do KOTJ in the flesh. crowd sang along to all the big songs which was great, and once again Eddie commented on how great the crowd were. Not for you was amazing.
  • Kick Out The Jams?! About time they brought that shit back...the setlist are much more diverse during this leg

  • I hate going to gigs like this when I don't know if half the crowd has even listened to any of the last few albums. This is the first Pearl Jam gig in Brisbane where that actually felt true.

That being said, everyone still loved it, the reaction was fantastic and the playing and feel from the band was spot on. All of the guys gave it their all and you can tell that they are into what they are doing as much as they have ever been.

Eddie dedicated the Tom Waits cover to someone back in Seattle whose birthday it was, as he'd never missed one of hers before. Did his daughter just turn two?

Eddie ran around and changed the setlist at one point. he told us that their first ever show with Boom was last time they came here, so they played Crazy Mary and let him show off to celebrate. Great back and forth with Mike, who was totally energetic throughout.

All I wanted from the new album was Army Reserve and Unemployable and I missed out both nights. And nothing from Lost Dogs!

All their gigs are super fuckin fantastic and we all know it. The rest is just quibbling over set lists and what we wished they'd played. We'd all happily sit there for as many hours as humanly possible to hear all our 50 favourite songs. When they only come here every 4 years then you know you will get a lot of the well known songs.

These two days were so freakin sweet!
Now I wait and see which is the pick of the setlists from Australia and get a new bootleg.

just curious but what do you consider hits? playing ten and vs. straight through? that would be a lame show
  • noone here mentioned that Ed came out to sing on Slow Night, So Long with KOL????

ok so great show again!!! omg that last encore was sooo heavy!!!
WHY GO - BLOOD - COMATOSE - PORCH - KICK OUT THE JAMS - YL
as has been said, crowd not as loud or enthusiastic as last night, but was to be expected. Kings of Leon had fuck all rocking out to them compared to Bris1.
Highlights - last encore, wishlist - ed "i wish i was prime minister, give george bush the finger? he added more to that too.
    - you are & save you, crazy mary jam was long as, porch was great but the jam a bit short. ed tried for a call and response in daughter but it didnt catch on too well he had to resort to hey's. did he change the setlist? i think at the end of daughter he went to the other guys and told them all something, before crazy mary?
picture in a frame (just ed & jeff) was beautiful, ed really sang it with meaning for his partner. i thought mike was gonna kick into little wing for us at the end of yellow ledbetter cause the jeff & stone kept their guitars on but not to be.

oh alllso, was mike really wandering/staggering around in circles pretending to be blind during Not For You hahaha cause thats what it looked like!!!!
and i should mention Why Go was well sung along with the usuals, and stone's sleater-kinney shirt is cool. and why wont security let us move up closer into unused seats? it sucks and doesnt make sense. i did get to rock out in the aisle for a full song before being sent back to my seat!

  • Hey,
Last night was my first pearl jam show. Been listening to them for over ten years so was thrilled to finally see them live. Great also to see the band themselves get into the show so much. Wish they had have played State Of Love and Trust the second night as well! What a fantastic set!

Eddie must have forgotten about the 4 shows in Seattle in 2002. Boom was at the Showbox at least, I'm not sure if he was at the Key Arena.

I don't know if it's because i had better seats last night compared to the first, but i really really enjoyed last nights show heaps more than friday nights.

So I was in the last row of the first block on the floor.,... and what i dont get is people in the front five rows or whatever, Why weren't you on your feet cheering and clapping like hell during the encore breaks.. you don't just sit back down and quietly wait, very odd. yeh we all know they will come back... but don't you want to make them feel appreciated. or else they won't want to come back.

Maybe i am just bitter because i would have given anything to be in those first few rows.

Ed's voice during crazy mary was completely sublime. I am so happy i got to hear SOLAT and crazy mary, Fantastic two shows.!!

He was rocking the tambs like some crazy man.

I had a great night, great set list. Hell, I even got a Tom Waits cover and Kick out the Jams . I was surprised people really didn't get into KOTJ that much.

I nearly got wiped out with a beach ball to the head, but safely avoided it.

I think i'm still in too much of a post concert haze to string anything else more coherent together.

Why do people bother getting great seats only to sit on their bums and not rock out? Sure, some people are quiet and dont like to yell and jump around and that's their perogative - but to sit during a PJ concert when you've got a good seat? Incredible! Yes, the band need to feel appreciated. I wonder why some people bother to go at all if they cant show a little enthusiasm. When I think of the lengths I go to to get good seats and I still miss out, it really shits me. Well I expect I'll be yelling and rocking out at all 3 Melb shows - bring it on PJ!!

AWESOME SHOW once again. I was there Friday and Saturday. Personally, Friday was a tad better for me -- probably because I was FRONT ROW and touched Ed TWICE!!! But last night was fucking great too! Standing up jigging and screaming for the whole concert!!! Everyone around me was going off!

I was slightly disappointed about how many double up songs there were between the two nights...but I can handle it!!! :D

I took my 16 year old niece (her first big concert) and I got a bit worried after Friday night when they played nearly EVERY song she really wanted to hear so in a way, I was glad for Even Flow, Alive, Betterman, Small Town and Yellow Ledbetter etc again so she could experience an awesome concert too! She loved it!

I was exactly her age (2 months shy of 16) when I saw PJ's Vitalogy tour in 1995! Felt great taking her along and letting her experience something so magical! She's now got the ROCK AND ROLL bug just like her auntie! :D

  • hi guys, this is my first post on this site. i am 16 years old and i went to brissy 1 and 2. these were my first pj concerts and i just want say i thought it was freakin awesome.
i thought both nights set list were great and coulndnt of been more happier.
highlight was black and crazy mary.
look forward to going to many pj concerts in the future.
  • yeah it was pretty good, it is always tough when your seats suck compared to your seats from the night before. what really frustrated me though was that there were all these spare seats right in front of me, there were probably about 50 seats that had not been sold, that were directly in front of my section. the security nazi's wouldn't let you move even one row closer into these empty seats, it sucked (this was up behind mikes side of the stage), and it looked like there were maybe 10-20 empty seats in front of mike, I don't know what was going on there.

kick out the jams was friggin great!! if you love that song, check the RATM cover on renegades - it rocks so hard. blood was great too.

  • Great show, from the KOL set with Eddie coming on for their last song (which absolutely rocked) to the main event, 28 songs from a smoking Pearl Jam.

Eddie payed tribute to the Night 1 concert which he said (something like) it gave them a lift after Sydney. Loved the tag on the end of Wishlist though was a little surprised that the band wasn't a little more vocal about the results of the US Mid-Term elections.

Sure, as has been said above, not everyone (down on the floor) was out of their seats but I got the impression that a fair chunk of the crowd were there to hear Betterman and Daughter, (for Christ's sake, the people beside me sat down during DTE) and probably wouldn't have recognised half the songs played on the night.

So what, it makes it much more special to be a fan who isn't just there for a couple of radio songs. It was an incredible experience from start to finish, (btw, props to the people who planned ahead and brought not one but three beach balls).

Not for You was probably one of the highlights, along with Porch and DTE, the kickoff with Severed Hand leading into Corduroy was brilliant.

All in all it was a fantastic night.

    Thankyou Pearl Jam.

It seemed to me that the crowd was even better on the second night. The first night was brilliant, but last night was even better with a great setlist. I guess it depends a lot on where you are seated. Last night I was in front of Mike and it was great seeing all his moves. Everyone around me was going crazy the whole show.

God I hope they have more tours in them. They are better every time I see them.

Ok, so what a night i had, me and my mate were front row right in front of jeff who was the most energetic i have seen him for a while jumping round and having a laugh. Stone was even pumped moving round a lot and smiling and laughing, mainly at me during YL.

During KOL's set Ed was pumped jumping round and destroying the fuck of the tambourines he had.

i was next to some smashed guy who sat down the whole night in the front row, like what the fuck! and his missus stood but didn't really look like she was having fun even through she got her copy of Ten signed by mike. pics a plenty were thrown out by mike as usual, Jeff threw out more then he normally does(my mate got one, one landed in front of us and me and a girl a bit further down saw it and security gave it to me which disappointed the girl but i ended up getting another so i passed it down to the girl). and Ed handed his pic to some guy in the front row, oh wait that guy was me! And at the end of the night Jeff tossed his sweatband down to me

I think it was neither Jill nor Olivia.
Olivia was born on June (my son was born that same day) this one Im 100% sure and as far I know Jill's bday was on August 23, I might be wrong on this one, but I'm pretty certain.

Im pretty sure that he was at the Key Arena, first show I had crappy seats :S but he was definately at the showbox II, I remember wondering what the guy looked like because I couldn't really see him with the light..

Maybe he was counting only tour shows? Maybe he wasnt counting warm up shows... or maybe he was just to drunk to remember. LOL!

Crazy Mary! Holy crap that was awesome. I was at the first show in Brisbane last time when the Boom/Mike Crazy Mary jam was born, and to hear it again, only better, in the same room, surrounded by most of the same friends, who all remembered how good it was last time almost brought tears to my eyes.

And Porch! I'd been crossing my fingers from the very start that I'd get to hear it. I didn't get to hear it on the last tour, and they didn't play it in Sydney, or Brisbane 1, so I couldn't countan my excitement when I heard the first few notes.

By the way, if you were the old bastard next to me who sat with your arms folded for the whole show, (I was the guy going nuts in the brown PJ shirt that yelled PORCH! as soon as Stone hit the first three notes) I'd just like to say Fuck You. Why come to the show if you're going to just sit there looking bored the whole time? Even if you're not completely familiar with the songs you can at least show some enthusiasm for some bloody awesome rock and roll. There are probably plenty of worthy fans who missed out on tickets because of guys like you.

  • brisbane 2 was fuckin good. 3rd row centre, crowd overall not as enthusiastic as night 1, but that is to be expected without the fanclub. im here getting ready for melbourne 1, as pumped as ever, but still recovering from the brisbane stretch! the tour so far blows 2003 out of the water.
