I actually remember seeing that boy (I remember the T-shirt he was wearing) walking through the crowd with his parents that night just before we went in to the Arena and I was thinking "how cool is that, he's come with his parents".

Awesome shit. Wonder if there are any photos out there??

There's one on this site in the tour photos section of Eddie leaning up against Nick .. Remember how he used to do that with Jeff?

  • sydney 3 was great. i never saw i got you, smile or soon forget coming. i only saw 3 people sitting down through the whole thing. i think brisbane 1 was better because of the extended black. i dare say i saw the two best shows of the tour except from the setlist is looked like newcastle would have rocked.thank god i didnt see sydney two because to quote eddie vedder 'it fucken sucked'.
Another man moved by sleight of hand.

it's called slow night so long. he's sung it before with the kings at a show on the kings of leon tour in america somewhere. i'm a HUGE fan of kol so to see that was fucking amazing. i was hoping SO BAD that eddie would get up and sing with them and i got it. i was so happy you don't even understand.

man....that was the best night of my life. pearl jam kicked arse and the crowd was so good. i went to the first night in sydney and the third show was definitely the best. man....so amazing

KOL went off!!!! ... crowd ate them up.. was really good to see!!!!... Eddie and Caleb rocked during slow night so long... wished they had done Hunger Strike together!!!.... was disappointed KOL didn't do Trani tho!!!... was brilliant at first Syd gig!!!.. Four Kicks still best song ever written and performed live!!
  • yeah their new songs were really really good too. they're getting better as songwriters and performers. i'm so glad the crowd was really nice to them. it must be hard being a performing act when you've already had your own tours before. yeah...hunger strike would have been awesome. although i doubt the boys in kings of leon would know it at all. they never play covers i think because of how sheltered musically they were when they were younger.

i loved newy for the setlist, but i think this show is my fave so far.

just an awesome vibe. i heard it was nick's (the kid who was on stage for RITFW) 12th birthday. that was such an incredible moment, hearing the place just roar for a young PJ fan.

thanks sydney for being such a great crowd!

  • I went to all 3 Sydney shows....AWESOME!!! (3 being the best in my opinion). I nearly went to Newcastle. Damn I wish I did. There have been such diverse set lists this tour. It is definitely the best tour I have seen them do.

Next tour....I will have shows to every single Australian show and make a holiday of it and tour the country. After seeing this tour it would be sooooooooo worth it.

It warms your heart and chills you to the bone all at once just awesome!!

I totally agree. Sent chills down my spine re-listening to Betterman last night - if I hadn't gone to that concert I would have regretted it for the rest of my life!

I also hadn't realised that Ed had started into the Beds are Burning tag earlier but he stopped and went with the crowd singing and then came back to it - awesome.

yeah mine too. I guess they left it out for legal/PR reasons i.e. what Bono apparently said.

I remember when he said that and actually felt a bit offended even though I didn't go to Sydney 2. I'm glad they left it out..

  • The Sydney 3 bootleg is incredible. I have been listening to it for 3 days straight now. All the memories come rushing back. THE CROWD WAS INCRDIBLE. The quote in question is in the boot (at least in my version) 4 min into Do The Evolution... after the song music ends before "I got you" starts. Maybe it was a slam against Sydney 2, but you can tell in Eddie's voice how excited they were to have such a great crowd that Saturday night. I am proud to have been a part of it.

  • a couple of my friends were at sydney 2 and the said the crowd was totally crap. heaps of people were just sitting down and being really boring so i think it's fair enough that eddie made that comment. i felt really proud to be at the third show and be part of such a good audience. i felt bad for my friends though becuase they were really getting into it and everyone else was being crap. although they did play baba o'riley at the second show which i'm exceedingly annoyed that i missed....

my bootleg has the quote in it. i can't stop listenign to the bootleg....it's so much more special than any pictures i could have taken on the night. i love that pearl jam give us the bootlegs because there have been so many concerts taht i've been to taht i can never fully recapture in my memory....aaahhhh i love pearl jam. :P

i thought sydney 1 was pretty good. not as good as the third show but yeah...i think eddie was mostly talkign about sydney two...because sydney one did kick arse. who knows....

  • I no I'm late on the subject but I remember the concert like it was yesterday! Unreal. I flew over from New Zealand to Sydney to see the concert. I had tickets to the first Sydney concert but couldn't go. My little sister went and then brought me tickets to the 18.11.06. This was one of the greatest nights of my life. I've seen them twice in NZ and was so gutted when we found out they weren't coming. It was just magic to hear them sing "I got you", a kiwi classic, which they sang the first time they visited NZ with the Finn brothers. The crowd was awesome and PJ were just unbelieveable, it nearly brought a tear to my eye. And the way they started with Betterman!!! LEGENDS!!!!!
