  • Oh man! This show topped the first two Sydney shows.

It was SO awesome - got to hear smile - that was tops! Nick coming on stage a la TB2K style was really really cool. I jsut hope that the kid will appreciate that he was on stage with the greatest band in the world.

Best concert I have ever been too. Totally topped Wednesday 8th. Eddie poured me a glass of his wine :)
  • Here, here richo. Couldn't agree more. Crowd was amazing and Eddie and the boys really seemed to enjoy last night. Loved Eddie's reference to his friend Margaret (River).
  • This was my 2nd time seeing Pearl Jam (i'm also seeing them tonight in Newcastle). The equivalent concert on the last tour (Sydney 3) was the first gig i have ever been to. Since then i've been to countless gigs (from local to international) and a few festivals. I guess you could say that getting into Pearl Jam and seeing them live is the reason i listen to so much music and go to gigs so often these days cause music and especially live music is such a big part of my life for that. So i have to thank the band for that.

Maybe it is because i am more experienced in seeing gigs now but i think i was more blown away by seeing Pearl Jam last night than i was the first time. The band seems to be getting better with age. Seemed to have a lot more energy and stage presence than 2003.

The new songs came off very well live (particularly Inside job -- loved Mike's double neck guitar [hello Jimmy Page ;) ] ). Hope to hear Life Wasted, Unemployable and Big Wave tonight and i'll be stoked.

Was happy to see songs that i didn't see last time such as Last Exit, Smile and Animal. Didn't see Green Disease coming at all

I think the most impressive thing for me was that after seeing so many gigs since seeing them last tour, they can still wow we (and at times give me chills) so they must be doing something right. I may not listen to Pearl Jam as much as i used to and i seem to be into heavier, more technical and more progressive music these days but while ever the band is trying to write new and interesting material and continuing to mis it up life then i will continue to see them when they tour.

Oh and do i really need to say anything about Matt's Drum solo during Evenflow *astounded*. I'm so glad the band has given him the opportunity to do this since is is clearly the band's (if not the whole grunge scene's) most talented and technically proficient member IMO

  • Last night bloody rocked. I could not fault it. Crowd was amazing, set list was awesome and PJ were pumped.

I still can't get the smile off my face. Going to Newcastle tonight I hope so much that they play Dissident and In Hiding. I also saw the boys at Brisbane1 they rocked, but I don't think it was as good as last night.

If they do play Dissident and In Hiding, that would be my Pearl Jam experience fulfilled. Maybe if they open the set with Long Road and their first encore with Release or visa versa.

Can't wait til tonight, see you all there.

One last thing. In Yellow Ledbetter, who was the kid on the side of the stage with the headphones on that Ed said good night to? If you were looking at the stage he was on the left hand side with I guess his Mum.

I agree with every word you say - brilliant- have fun in newcastle sooo jealous!!!

I actually cried when they walked off stage cause I knew I wasn't going to get to see them again for ages :-(
I will hold the candle till it burns up my arm
i'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired
i will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind
hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind
how much difference does it make

The Beds are Burning tag on Daughter and I Got You would have done it for me! This was a pretty solid setlist.
    :D

  • Yeah man i was there. It was a killer show it was so good. My legs can testify to how good it was. The crowd was just up for it before KOL came out. They were pumped and so was i. When Ed came out with KOL that gave us but a taste. The whole band seemed in such a great mood. Ed was smiling heaps and laughing, mike was going sick. Jeff was dancing round more than usual and stone was pretty animated too! He was looking out into the crowd and everything! I was row 5 and everyone around us was going nuts it was just so awesome the set was awesome the crowd....everything. Even the security guy near us was awesome. Alright cant wait for tonight!! Newcastle here we come.

  • Ok.

    This show WAS unbelievable.

The crowd WAS the best I have ever seen at ANY concert EVER!

The first part of the show (up to the first encore) is THE most energetic I have ever seen this band. It's like they had a point to prove.

From the point where Ed came out with Kings of Leon the show was mapped out...They were going to WOW the crowd.

    Awesome setlist.

Sure there was less people at this one than at Sydney 1 and 2 but this show topped Sydney 1...which I thought was awesome too.

Everybody up on thier feet dancing, singing, chanting, yelling....a truly amazing performance from the best rock band of this generation!

i was clapping in excitement......eagerly awaiting the opening chord.......i heard thast openijg chord alright......except it had a different rhythm and a different pitch........and it sounded strangely like betterman......now bettermans a good song...........

Cummon.. how could you complain after that show.

Of the 6 times I have seen them, that would have to be THE BEST of the lot.

    The atmosphere was amazing.

The band are in fine form.

Perth and Adelaide are in for a hell of a ride.....

Loved every minute of it! So happy they did Smile. My face hurt afterwards from smiling so much. I found it hard not to shed a tear at the end knowing I won't see them again now for a good while. Absolutely loved I Got You and how about little Nick? I was sitting behind him and his mum and dad and he was having a rocking time...the band were acknowledging him before they got him up on stage and I said to him jeez they love you and he knew it! He was so blown away, good on the little fella!

Thank you guys...Hope to see you again soon.

Great GREAT night!!. I liked the Betterman opener as far as it got EVERYONE singing and after that Ed gave me the impression that it was "right no excuses we're rocking out". From then on the campfire was on and the singlong songs were mostly what we got(my vioce is cactus). Loved the Beds are Burning tag .Probably the highlight of the tour for me. I got you was awesome too.

A special special 1st Encore I hope it comes across on the boot as good as it sounded.

Finished 4 gigs at Newcastle last night 9th row in front of Mike.AHHHH Memories..

Memory aint that clear after Newcastle but...

Thought the ploy of opening with Better Man was great to get the crowd involved from the beginning.

Last Exit, Green Disease were fantastic. Heared Inside Job for the first time which sounded awesome.

Smile was farkin great - just not expected at all.

My brother said to me before we went in, 'if Neil Finn gets up there and sings Ill die'. Well close to it...I got You by Split Enz and the look on his face was just priceless. I thought at this stage that it couldnt get any better then....

The little grommit on Eds shoulders nearly had me in tears and wasnt he getting into it. Whoever you are young lad - Ill remember you up there for a long time.

Ill put it second on the list behind Newy and just in front of Syd 1
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
  • who is nick?

Just some youngster that got to live the dream and got to bash tamborines with Eddie up on stage during RITFW. Ed had him on his shoulders, he looked about 12-13 and went right off.

Allow me to say...Thank you Pearl Jam, Sydney adores you :D

From what I can gather, I think it's fair to say that every city in Australia that Pearl Jam played to/are going to play to adore them. No one city over any other. We have been very lucky to get so much of them and I'll never forget the 3 concerts I went to as long as I live. Saw U2 on Saturday night and although they were incredible, I still prefer PJ over them. PJ rock, they can do no wrong!!!! And I will definitely be there waiting for them when they come back, however long it is.

and the expression on his face .. he looked as though he was just about to burst with excitement. Ed gave him a big hug at the end too.

I actually remember seeing that boy (I remember the T-shirt he was wearing) walking through the crowd with his parents that night just before we went in to the Arena and I was thinking "how cool is that, he's come with his parents".
