    The Mars Volta - Octahedron

Didn't know there was another person on earth that appreciated this. I dig all the crazy stuff too, but it's nice they can streamline it somewhat.
I know plenty people who only seem to hear one noise with TMV but for me they're one of the most innovative bands in decades. Scab Dates was a bit of a struggle at first but it's all good now. I loved At The Drive-In and Defacto too but they have progressed way beyond those now. I saw TMV live and they played for 1hr 45mins but they only played 6 songs. They completely draw you in to the performance. Omar Rodriguez is amazing to watch and he has some great solo albums too.

Oh geez!! They're mindblowing live. Caught them twice. The 2nd time was after Octahedron and it was a great show but they weren't quite as energetic as the first time. That time they played for close to 3 hours, and I heard rumblings in the crowd that Cedric had drank some mushroom tea...Needless to say he was in a pretty intense mood. The band was just over the top impressive. Easily the best musicianship I've ever seen and that's counting Rush and Tool shows. Caught a drumstick from Thomas Pridgen and a bunch of juice from a trash can that Cedric chucked into the crowd.

The first one with John Frusciante is playing through my headphones a lot still after two years!! These are all good and I have a few more which I've not had the time to hear yet from start to finish.
