Another nice list! I was watching my DVD copy of "American Hardcore" and was reminded that Jerry Williams (R.I.P.) who produced Bad Brains first album, also worked with Beastie Boys. It also reminded me that I've never been a Beastie Boys fan because I generally am not into rap and hip hop. But I'm told they started out more as a punk band. I'm not sure I'll ever be a fan, but I at least should give them a decent listen. Is Check Your Head a good place to start?

re: Beasties....Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, and Ill Communication are all good starting points. Ill Communication would be my vote as the ideal starting point as it covers a whole lotta Beastie turf. Their punk roots make appearances on that album as well as on CYH. You really can't go wrong with any of the three. Hello Nasty deserves a good listen as well. Also good for some punk vibes is 'Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun' off Paul's Boutique - it definitely gets the blood pumping!0 -
