Any interest in a '96 PJ poster raffle?

Just wanted to gauge any possible interest in a poster raffle here in the Lost Dogs forum. The poster in question is a 1996 PJ Istanbul Ames poster, with the poster in Very Good condition (aside from some light color marks on the back the poster shows like New). Ideally I'd be looking to fill 20 slots at $25 a piece to keep things reasonable. That would translate to $500, which after Paypal/postage/insurance/shipping fees and costs would come to the $450 I recently listed the poster for sale at here.

Thoughts?

Is this raffle in support of anything? Or are you just trying to sell your poster for the $ amount that you think it's worth by making affordable "tickets" for everyone?

I am assuming the raffle is in support of something... if so let me know what and I may be in... I've already given a similar size donation to MS research this month... so I'd like it to go to someone/thing else...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

true story .... i was on a date in NYC one night .. we where walking down the street when a black homeless guy walked up to me and said "would you like to donate to the united negro pizza fund" ..:lol: . i couldnt say no to him. and since where in front of a pizza place i walked in with him bought him a few slices and a beer and sat and bullshitted with him for about 20min ....

who cares what the OP is doing with his money . its the same as selling it if you ask me... he is giving a few people a chance to to own a 96 prints for only $25

    Cheers to him man.

If you want to participate by all means ... I'm not in interested in participating in a "private raffle" where the guy is trying to get his price by selling tickets.... just seems a little fishy to me...

Doesn't appear like enough people are interested in playing so the poster will stay put for now. As for Shep suspecting something "fishy", I must say the passive-aggressive approach is always amusing (at least to me). The "Porch Police" has been busy lately, but nothing suspect here.

    Thanks for looking.

What, he wants to sell the poster via raffle thus giving a lotta people the chance to win it. That's not fishy at all. Least he's up front about it.

This one here? Now this is fishy. So much so I'm sort of amazed admin let it go ahead. But what's 500 bucks when you've made five grand :)

honestly please explain whats wrong with that ?????? Pearl jam did it .... Brad klausen did it ? why cant this guy do it ???
when its comes to the point of selling your stuff WHO THE EFF CARES ... i had to sell my ENTIRE RECORD collection a few years ago ....i made about $7,000 in one day selling every pearl jam vinyl i had, posters and lots of promo pearl jam stuff .... all to pay my mortgage for a few months and buy oil for the house

REMEMBER .... HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS IS STILL DEAD

i have gotten super rare stuff from poster artiest from around the world .. im talking one of kinds prints ... ORIGINAL DRAWINGS ..i swore to them i would never sell it and they even told me not to ever sell it.. BUT they all said when times are rough and you need to provide food on the table or pay bills .etc etc ... do what you gotta do

im just saying who knows what anyones situation is in life... one mans loss is anothers gain

So you sold pieces of art given to you by people who asked you not to? Wow. Rather you than me.
  • eldarion75eldarion75 Posts: 2,488
Just to clarify, I'm all for being able to sell something on for its Market value if circumstances dictate you must, or even of you just feel like it. Just somethings and some practices here lately are, double standard doesn't cover it, it's more like why even bother putting down rules? They seem by their own business practice to propagate the secondary market&ebay, so why make rules against it if certain things are so limited?
It's a free Market. Let that rule I say.

Ps-I still hate eBay and it's premise and always will.

Oh right. I'm with ye. I Misunderstood. Hang onto them. There's nothing like the real thing and gifts such as those should be always treasured.

Ps you made that much off promo stuff?? Wow.

    paul, joe, OP...

my apologies, I didn't mean to rag on anyone. What someone wants to do with their property is there own business.

What I should have said is that I'm not interested. In fact, I should have stayed out of the whole thing.

good luck with selling your poster. I didn't mean to imply that you weren't above board with what you were offering to do.

    Cheers,

    andrew
