I remember saying holy shit, people are really jumping up and crowd surfing!!!!!!! I'd been to a few shows before this, but that was the first time I ever saw it in person. Interesting opener none-the-less
Like it says in my signature, Hard to Imagine. Camden I 08. It was a great first song to hear. I have over 240 boots, but they don't compare to seeing them live.

I feel like this is the kind of thread where everyone wants to share their answer, but no one really reads through or cares what other people's answers are.
Sort of like when people start telling you a 5 minute story about a weird dream they had. For them it's exciting, but it's rarely interesting as you the listener.
Not trying to insult the thread starter at all:) That always goes through my head with these threads.
Wash will always have a special place in my heart. I just bought the Ten CD and Wash wasn't on it. It was the first song I heard PJ play and I couldn't sing along because I hadn't heard the song. The next song was Evenflow.
There is another thread out there along these lines but mine was...
Oceans 10-01-1996 Buffalo, NY
i tried so effin' hard to get tickets to that show. thing sold out in like six minutes. i was lucky enough to get tickets to the show the following night, though.

Good point, but I started the thread to see what openers people seem to get the most excited about. It seems like the band has roughly ten songs they open with on a consistent basis, I just was interested to see which one sparks the "magic in the air" as Ed likes to say...
2006- Boston I
2008- Boston I+II
2009- Toronto, Philly III+IV
2010- Bristow, Hartford, Boston, Newark
Oh by the way, BlackCorduroy, I was at the 8/2/08 EV show and I have to say that Ed pointing you out and dedicating a song to you was the single coolest thing I have ever seen at a concert. Congrats, you're a lucky girl ;-)

I see, that's cool:) I apologize, I totally wasn't trying to seem like an ass or say it's a bad thread, I'm sure a lot of people are interested in the answers too. Plus, people seem to be responding to each other so my theory is proven wrong anyway:p

Thank you! I'm of course biased, but it was the coolest thing I've ever seen at a concert too.

and yes, at that time it was a mother to get tickets, and we went through hell to get them. it was a roller coaster of a day. and when i first heard Ed sing
"large fingers pushing me....................... TA your god and you got big hands"
i had a tear or two flow. it was relief i think.
awesome.
Peace, Love.

The opening acts were atrocious... I was still having the time of my life though, it was my first time for many things that night, first time I was inside a club (note I was only 13 at that time, oh the wonders of being 5'11 and having older cousins ), it was my first concert ever and the very first time I saw Pearl Jam live ....
I didnt know I was going to see Pearl Jam that night I didnt even know who Pearl Jam were the night I saw them, but when they took the stage I was mesmerized and when Ed sang Garden later on that night he stole my heart and never gave it back
good story.
Peace, Love.

I've never really been to a "Pearl Jam show", but I went to the VH1 Rock Honors this year. I had really crappy seats with horrible acoustics, and I wanted to get closer to see Pearl Jam and the Who. So I went on a journey to find better seats. I hopped a couple fences, got chased by a security guard, and ended up sneaking to around the 30th row. And right as I got to my new seat "Love Reign O'er Me" started up. I was awestruck by it. I could not believe how beautiful that song could possibly be. I had shivers through the whole song and felt a euphoria that otherwise can only be felt by me if I'm high. A song had really never made me cry before but by the end of it I had tears running down my cheeks. The power of it was unbelievable. The T.V. recording did not do it justice at all. If I had not been there to experience it, I wouldn't be who I am today.
mine was hard to imagine in mansfield this year and it was all i was thinking while i was there. it was such a great show, too bad it took me so long to see them live.

I took three friends, two of which claimed not to like PJ but I'd bought everyone tickets - but after the first few chords I could see that they were already hooked.
